Starting mid-October, Brad Pitt will be the first man speaking about (and hopefully help selling) the Chanel No.5 fragrance.

Andrea d’Avack, president of Chanel Fragrance & Beauty about the project:

“To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view. It is the first time we’ve had a man speaking about a women’s fragrance. We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level.”

The global campaign will include a commercial, directed by Joe Wright that will lauch on October 15 and a print campaign to appaer in fashion magazines in November. We’ll keep you posted with first images.

If like me you missed the display of Giuseppe Zanotti’s latest shoe collaboration with Kanye West on his Facebook page last week, here’s a look see (see last year’s collaboration here). The shoes are titled “Cruel Summer,” and it’s been observed that they match up with the design aesthetic of the West-produced compilation album of the same name.

We wrote about the making of the Solange Knowles video for the song “Losing You” and now we have the finished product.  Filmed in South Africa, it is a surprisingly sweet song about lost love. Give a listen and see if it doesnt somehow it reminds of vintage Madonna…and something else which is so darn familiar and yet I cannot name it but it’s 80s new wave, that much I know! [UPDATE: Okay so it's produced by Blood Orange's Devonte Hyndes which explains the 80s synth sound, which also shows up in his song "Champagne Coast."]

As for style, it is of course off-the-charts G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S., the people, the fashion, the lovingly shot local scene shots, it’s a stunner flat out (Note to SGP: you are gonna DIE over the menswear). And then there’s the added fun of watching Solanges dance moves and seeing the connection between her and her older sister. By the end, like me, you may find yourself utterly charmed by La Hermana and rooting for her to win.

As part of her an ongoing marketing relationship with J.Crew, French photographer Garance Dore has a sit down chit-chat with the chain’s uber-popular creative director, Jenna Lyons. Among other topics Jenna Lyons discusses how blog culture has changed the culture of style and how it’s examined……”before it was just magazines.”

In internet time, this is old news but I had to pause and admire Rita Ora wearing Alexandre Vauthier Couture during the VMA’s after party.  She looks stunning  and somehow I want to restrain myself from thinking that this look channels Beyonce or even Rihanna,why?  Image makers have to be so in tune with their artist to create looks that are unique to them. Via JayStrut.

The much anticipated campaign video for H&M featuring Lana del Rey released today. The video is paying homage to David Lynch and his 50’s cult movie ‘Blue Velvet’ with Lana performing the song of the same title. The set is a very Lynch-like derelict room with dubious characters that appear one after another. Watch the full two minute campaign video here above.

They’ve been friends and collaborators for many years with Kate Moss most recently appearing in George Micheal’s latest music video “White Light,” and now Paris Vogue captures their friendship for the cover of the October 2012 issue. On the occasion of Lady Gaga’s perfume launch for Fame, shoe retailer United Nude created a special model inspired by the ad campaign where Lady Gaga is presented as a naked colossus with an army of tiny good looking menfolk scaling her body. The result is a 12 inch artwork available for purchase at the United Nude flagship stores in Paris, London and Amsterdam.

“We were invited to make a shoe for Lady Gaga’s new Fame perfume launch. Since we are fans, we thought we’d give it a try. They wanted the shoes to be as high as possible, so that’s what they got. We came up with a few concepts, one which was inspired by her own Fame campaign where she’s a naked giant and people are climbing on her. In the case of the shoes, we went for climbing gold men, and yes they are nude, United Nude.”

We showed you first images of the H&M camaign featuring Lana del Rey a few weeks ago. Today, we can present a first snippet of the camaign video with Lana covering Bobby Vinton’s song ‘Blue Velvet’, better known from the correspondent David Lynch cult movie. Lana is filmed singing to a room full of Lana Del Rey clones with matching bouffant hair and beige dresses.The official premiere of the campaign video is set for September 20. We will keep you posted.

The much hyped movie ‘Spring Breakers’ debuted at Venice International Film Festival last week. While we are all waiting for the movie to hit cinemas in Spring 2013, a second teaser just released. In this second teaser we get an insight into James Francos character – a grill-wearing drug dealer.
