Luxury-goods holding house LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), whose names include heavy hitters Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Celine and Givenchy among many others, must be enjoying the returns on its luxury leather brands since it just pruchased 14 percent of super-status fashion house Hermes, most famous for its “Kelly” and “Birkin” (carried by Kim Kardashian above) bag styles. The rest of the company’s shares are held by members of the Hermes family. LVMH claims it’s not trying to attempt a total takeover, but given its aggressive history (check its epic attempt to grab Gucci), not everyone is buying that.

Givenchy continues to devour the accessorries game, as illustrated by this quietly commanding leopard purse. It’s not new but the rust-colored spot combined with the hardware and the neat “Givenchy” stamp make it fresh. Two more after the flip. Via WWD.

The now two-year love affair between Louis Vuitton and Sofia Coppola continues with another set of supremely classic bags and wallets for Autumn. Via Habituallychic. More images on the next page.

Apparently Kourtney wasn’t joking about her plans to move to New York, and according to the NY Post part of that move includes opening another Dash store in SoHo [Update: Racked says it's at 119 Spring between Mercer and Greene] on Spring Street. Here she is with her little sister Kim strolling the streets of the City. Kim is not fooling around with her Gucci fur, over-the-knee Fendi boots and Birken bag, and both of them went over the top with their hat game. Love them or hate them, you have to appreciate how this family has given voice to glamorous fashion, eschewing the relaxed denim-cut-off looks that have become de rigueur just because they’re popular among 17-year-old models. L-R Kinight Bag, Travel Bag
The Burberry Prorsum knight bag seemed to have gone through a slight makeover, and is now called a travel bag . The lining is now chequered, it costs about $800 less, the studs are round instead of square, gunmetal instead of silver but the dimensions are about the same. So if like me this bag gave you fever, it’s now available at net-a-porter. On the next page images of the two.

Chanel’s spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection had that same overly sensible theme of a lot of the more prestigous houses, as in boxy longish dresses, very little reveal of curves, sensible shoes….I understand the need to appeal to the women actually buying these clothes, especially in these tough economic times, but honestly I weep! But anyway, the point of this post is to zero in on Chanel’s accessories, which seem to be the only thing that matters these days among the heavy hitters designers, as in those with a large boutique chain business where rent must be paid. So that being said Chanel’s bags were a delight, very covetable, and somewhere in my future there exists a pair of velvet sandals. More after the flip, including closeups on some very neat earrings. Two lux titans Karl Lagerfeld and Hogan get together on a capsule collection, featuring a futuristic sneaker, an unusual cowboy boot, a clutch bag, a messenger, a trench coat and a jacket. The shoes especially have a unique feel to them, definitely correct for the high-end fashionista who likes to elevate above the crowd. Via Dazeddigital.

Berlin-based Star Styling, whose Spring collection we viewed while visiting Capsule earlier this week, is know for its non-serious edge, but behind the joi-de-vivre attitude is a seriously strong color and materials story, which shows itself in the tops above. New technology materials are used to detail a down-to-earth, gauzy cotton for a look that is very new millennium moonage daydream. More after the flip, including some denim dresses and bags. Fun yes, but clever, too.

While at the Capsule trade show Tuesday, we of course visited Claw to see what the brand was up to. This ultra-awesome Claw key chain leaped out and were suprised to discover that it’s not new and has been in the Claw store for a minute. Nice, right? Especially since it has a weaponish feel to it. On the other side, the “Clawingdales” tote from Claw’s Autumn 2010 collection and a look at a tee from the Spring 2011 line.

Mulberrys Spring 2011 bags are amazing, and the “Tillie” bag is no exception! It’s made from supple calf leather and embossed with snake print, and looks more like a modern day satchel. I for one wouldn’t mind going to college with this in tow, but I think I’d leave the heavy books in my arms rather than weigh down this beauty! ZJK.
