Mihara Yasuhiro is fairly known for her shoe designs and the connected collaboration with Puma on futuristic sneakers. After launching a mens line and in 2009 finally a womens line, the collection for Spring/Summer is a pure vision of delight. Yasuhiro collaborated with Bette Ridgeway, an American contemporary artist on some of the pieces that are influenced by the colors and the lightness of butterflies. Via DazedDigital
Dear friend to HighSnobette, designer and artist Ayana Evans launched a performance art project this past summer, examining the intersection between sexuality and art, and what we mean by art are the actual patrons of the culture.
Evans wore a neon tiger catsuit to various gallery events in the City (Chelsea is above, which Evans described as “rough”) during the summer and examined the response to her outfit, eliciting a whole host of complicated questions like what behavior is okay when it comes to responding to a woman’s physical form? What if she’s wearing something form fitting and strikingly bright AND she has an admittedly above-average sized butt and small waist? Are side comments ok? What about picture taking?
Responses to the project are made further complex by Evans’ identity as a black woman attending events that are almost entirely populated by white folks. What’s also fascinating is the different responses at different locations, which an exhausted Evans breaks down at the end of the video. Lots to examine and think about!

On the occasion of Lady Gaga’s perfume launch for Fame, shoe retailer United Nude created a special model inspired by the ad campaign where Lady Gaga is presented as a naked colossus with an army of tiny good looking menfolk scaling her body. The result is a 12 inch artwork available for purchase at the United Nude flagship stores in Paris, London and Amsterdam.
Rem D. Koolhaas, Creative Director, United Nude about this special mission:
“We were invited to make a shoe for Lady Gaga’s new Fame perfume launch. Since we are fans, we thought we’d give it a try. They wanted the shoes to be as high as possible, so that’s what they got. We came up with a few concepts, one which was inspired by her own Fame campaign where she’s a naked giant and people are climbing on her. In the case of the shoes, we went for climbing gold men, and yes they are nude, United Nude.”

To a groovy instrumental by Darryl Hoffman, aka Highoffkid, called “The Trance,” a ballerina enchants while a Jordan-3-clad Hoffman works his magic on the piano. While there are no streets shots indicating the location of the video, there is something quintessentially New York about it that won us over. Directed by twins Natalie & Noelle Raffaele, its stars dancer Paige Fraser. Enjoy!
