John Varvatos x The Roots Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

roots2 John Varvatos x The Roots Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

When it come to men’s style, there are many favorite classic labels, however John Varvatos has continually had this sexy edge that make us weak in the knees. When he used Slash a while back we stopped breathing, and now having the Roots makes us stand applaud. I for one, never understood why The Roots rarely if ever play on the radio? Having seen them live we totally agree with what Varvatos had to say about them:

The Roots are one of the most creative musical forces on the planet,” Varvatos said in a written statement. “Their performances with almost every music icon in the world, of all genres, are mind-blowing and inspiring.”

Angelina Jolie’s So-Called Makeup Free LV Ad

29 June 2011, 14.59 | Posted in advertisement, celebrity | No comments »

We raised an eyebrow last week at Louis Vuitton’s claim that Angelina Jolie was makeup free in a recently-launched ad campaign (see video above). But whatever, it’s fashion, half of everything is a lie, you get numb to it. The ladies at Jezebel, however, weren’t about to just keep it moving and in the gifted way that only they can did quite the takedown, while also asking some great questions. Here’s a snippit:

“….but now that we’ve studied the associated video carefully — by which we mean that we watched it, and that we have eyes — we are left in no doubt. No doubt whatsoever. They simply do not shoot major international campaigns for luxury brands without professionally applied hair and makeup. This leaves us with only two questions: one, why the fuck did Louis Vuitton tell such a dumb-ass lie about something any customer with half-decent eyesight would be able to disprove?”

Bonus irony points because the campaign is called “Core Values”! Read more at Jezebel.

Little Boy B-Boys Getting Down For American Apparel

14 June 2011, 23.23 | Posted in advertisement | 2 comments »

When I was over gathering details at The Hundreds site for the post I did on its bikini launch, I found this video of mini, well-dressed B-Boys breaking (well, at least one is), as directed by Tony Kelly for American Apparel. According to details accompanying the video the dancers, Jalen Testerman and Lil Demon, are “world renowned.” What ever their credentials may be, they’re also super cute!

Angelina Jolie For Louis Vuitton

LouisVuittonAngelinaJolie Angelina Jolie For Louis Vuitton

It was rumored that Angelina Jolie would be featured in Louis Vuitton’s next campaign and now we have the images, as snapped by Annie Leibovitz in Cambodia’s Siam Reep province. In the pic featured here, Jolie, we’re told, is makeup free (really?), wearing her own clothes and the featured “Alto” bag belongs to her as well.

On a low budget or what, LV?? Ha, we kid, we kid. Obviously a statement is being made here about what matters to Jolie as the name of the campaign is “Core Values.” Not sure how that connects with her using her own stuff, but Cambodia as many of you know is the birth place of her very first son, Maddox, who, as first children often do, set Jolie down a very changed life’s path and opened her eyes to and inspired her to become an activist on the issue of world poverty.

Revlon Commercial Ft. Jessica Biel & Pharrell Williams

Revlon pairs Jessica Biel with Pharrell Williams in a mascara commercial, which also features his music. A bit of an odd pairing but okay, something a little different, can’t complain about that.

Target x Missoni First Images

TargetMissoni (4)

The Target collaboration with Missoni is the first one in a while at the big-box retailer that fashion lovers have been excited about so you will find these images from the ad photo shoot all over the style blogs today. The idea is that they were taken on the sly, but judging from the quality and range, and the fact that they landed first on TFS, one cannot help but suspect they were intentionally leaked.

More on the next page including a Missoni roller suitcase.

Schweppes Ad Photographed By LaChapelle With Uma Thurman

Schweppes1 540x363 Schweppes Ad Photographed By LaChapelle With Uma Thurman

Beverage company Schweppes called on fashion photographer Dave LaChapelle to photograph Uma Thurman for a series of print ads. Lachapelle’s color-rich signature style matches up well with the campagin, which features fruit-flavored drinks. More LaChapelle stills on the next page, plus a video ad of a vampy Thurman being interviewed by a young reporter. Cute idea, but it falls quite flat. Via Viewonfashion.
