ungaro1 515x540 PFW: Emmanuel Ungaro Autumn/Winter 2013

While I can still remember being in awe of Emmanuel Ungaro’s ladylike designs of the 80’s the label has seen quite a few designers and even Lindsay Lohan take its creative direction. This collection by Fausto Puglisi had many stunning ladylike pieces like the coat above,  an interesting mix of animal prints and polka dots and  some gold butterfly adornments that I’m now obsessed with. Prism House Party 2 PFW: Prism Paris Bag Launch Party
To celebrate the launch of the new Prism bag collection for Autumn Winter 2013, Creative Director Anna Laub hosted a special PRISM House Party at a private three story town house in Montmartre, located somewhere between the 9th and 18th district in Paris. The brand new capsule bag range includes oversized totes in nappa leather and chic clutch bags in tonal combinations of hot pink and black leather and ponyskin. Regarding the party there was an un-stated theme, that dealing with the randomness of modern jet-set life.

“You know, the bags are designed to make travel more functional,” Laub noted, “and I was thinking about the fact that we’re all traveling so much these days, and it’s kind of a crazy thing, that people have friends all over the world, and these lives where they’re in Tokyo one day and then Paris the next.”

We have some exclusive imagery from the party for you to check out in the gallery on the next page.

Celine cover PFW: Céline Autumn/Winter 2013
It’s Phoebe Philo’s turn at Céline to give her version of the contemporary woman. In shades of white, powder pink, gray, navy, new silhouettes appear in roundness. Everything was so effortless and so wearable. The collection gives pride to enveloping coats, lightly finishing in a trapeze with slits on the side and rounded sleeves. Not to forget the incredible shoes and accessories that deserve at least as much attention as the clothing. THE SHOES!

PFW: Jacquemus Autumn/Winter Show At ‘La Piscine Du Cour Des Lion’

Jacquemus AW 5 PFW: Jacquemus Autumn/Winter Show At La Piscine Du Cour Des Lion

Simon Porte Jacquemus, with his label Jacquemus defenitely proofed his creativity by bringing his fashion show for the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection to one of the fanciest fashion show locations at Paris Fashion Week I’ve seen so far. Of course H&M did an impressive set-up for their show at Musée Rodin, but to show a collection in a public piscine was new to me. The bigger was the WOW-effect when seeing the images of people wearing blue plastic shoes and standing bravely in line at the lip of the pool. But now, let’s talk about the collection. I am a big fan of Jaquemus, so the young, fresh and somehow rebellious but still French chic that the collection is representing, is just what I loved, love and will always love at Jacquemus’ designs. PFW: Alber Elbaz Piles On The Necklaces For Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2013

lanvin1 1 PFW: Alber Elbaz Piles On The Necklaces For Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2013

One of the reasons Lois and I often frown on the  stereotypical representation of the Bon qui qui’s of the world is that they tend to inspire fashion, not just what we see on the streets, but high end fashion. Of course the piling on of jewellery as we see in this Lanvin show can be traced as far back to the Romans, kings and queens of the Middle East,  Africa, Asia etc. However to bring this little expose of  closer  to this century I can also site Mr.T , Run DMC , most rappers of the 80s’s and 90’s, and most recently Trinidad James in his ‘All Gold Everything’ video . Honorable mention also goes to the incomparable Iris Apfel (She rocks). Needless to say as an accessories fiend I want every single chain assortment in the show. See them up close on the flip, via Style.com.

Balenciaga Runway PFW 13 PFW: Alexander Wang Makes His Balenciaga Debut
Back in November the 29-year-old designer was named creative director of Balenciaga and replaced Nicolas Ghesquière whose contribution to the fashion  house made  it what it  is today. There were many discussions surrounding his suitability for the role,  and whether he would be able to keep in step with the labels aesthetic. What he showed this morning at his runway debut for Balenciaga was impressive and not only proved himself to be ready for couture but also satisfied everyone attending the show.

Anna Wintour even said:

“I am very proud. It was such a restrained show. I thought everything was wearable, with obviously lots of bows to Balenciaga himself. I thought it was a very smart way to start, bu not giving too many fireworks.”

Miu Miu front PFW: Miu Miu Runway Spring 2013

During Paris Fashion Week, Miuccia Prada presented a rather wicked line for Miu Miu’s Spring 2013 collection. Coats made of latex, leather and denim over straight-line yet-lose-fitting skirts were heightened with paint-splash flower prints. Over-sized furs in various colors were more discreet, with colors made to blend with the clothing they covered. Once again a very female collection for the sophisticated women.

PFW: Carven Spring/Summer 2013

Carven PFW 1 PFW: Carven Spring/Summer 2013

The Carven Spring/Summer collection for 2013 looks fairly grown up. At first view, the cuts and colors seem pretty honest and cute but while taking a closer look, we discovered smart cut-outs in almost every piece. This theme passes the entire collection, from gorgeous lether dresses to mini skirts in baroque style. Guillaume Henry stayed true to himself and again managed to set up a perfect show in the beautiful setting of Le Grand Palais and presented a full collection of just perfect wardrobes. The collection will be available from Opening Ceremony. We’ll keep you posted!

PFW: Louis Vuitton Bags Autumn Winter 2012

LouisVuittonBagsAW2012 (13)

While bits of Marc Jacobs whimsy remain in the form of colored stones, sparkle and patent finishes and extravagently long yak hair for one group, long gone are the days of Murakami cherries, fox fur tails, over-sized tassels and fanny paks. More so then every Louis Vuitton bags have returned to their more serious roots, emphasizing durability and functionality. And this collection in particular shines a light on the brand’s luggage offerings, which have been left out of previous runway shows. A smart move given their hefty price tags, not to mention a nice appeal to men, who are widely viewed in the bag industry as an important avenue of growth.
