Mark 2013 as the year of the platform oxford, originating in equal parts from a mash up of men’s vintage-looking oxfords, creepers and platform sneakers (a la East Village Shoe Repair in NYC). Above is Madwell’s version, called the “Lord” platform oxford, created in collaboration with French label Sessun. The shoes are also available in black here.

A few days before Art Basel Miami opens its doors, Madewell announced the arrival of a limited edition collection of clothing, stationary and accessoires that emerged from a collaoration between the fashion brand and artist Rebeca Raney. Raney’s signature backwards-facing llamas and intricate flora provide the inspiration for the pieces including a luxurious cashmere sweater, llama pendant necklace, silk tee, wooly scarf, hand-painted leather transport tote, and holiday cards. Some of the items will be sold Rebeca’s solo exhibit at Primary Projects during Art Basel and the complete collection is available at Madewell stores and online.

Ah, now we know why J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons has been hanging so hard with Brooklyn resident Solange Knowles, no doubt they’ve been plotting Knowles’ new role as face of the company’s Madewell format. She’s shown in the video modeling Autumn 2013 looks with a promise of “even more” to come September 4th. Over at Racked, where we spotted this, we read that the campaign is being rolled out in conjunction with the chain’s plan to add an additional 15 doors this year. Fashion savvy college girls nationwide will rejoice.

Agyness Deyn’s loft apartment, located in artsy hangout, Williamsburg, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, is for sale. We spotted this over at Curbed, which is describing the decor combined with the floorplan as a “tragedie.” Mean yes, but we couldn’t help but laugh–out loud even.

And while granted not every home has to look like Jenna Lyon’s, aka the backdrop for a Madewell photo shoot, the decor Deyn chose might be a bit over the top for a less creative-minded buyer who could have trouble placing his/her own vision for the loft over the leopard skin rugs, mismatched furniture, weird bong-like ashtray thinger (what is that actually?), etc, etc. But whatever, do your thing, Aggy. As one of the commentors at Curbed wrote, Liberace would approve.
