Highsnobette Ihtgw 21 Ihtgw Female Islamic Dress Code Autumn/Winter 2011

Devoted to creating fashion that asks the big questions, Samia Malik launches her latest Ihtgw collection titled “Collection :1 Female Islamic dress code & Intergration.” The capsule collection of separates is presented as an observation of  women’s islamic apparel conception, controversies and traditions.

”..By 2011 it appears that Muslim women choose to wear the Hijab to show their respect for God, others may wear it because it’s ‘trendy’ without adhering the initial purpose of the Hijab, i.e some women make the Hijab look glamorous. Others  yet may wear Hijab for cultural reasons, rather than religious reasons. However I am not making any judgments about why people choose to wear Hijab, I am only stating a few obvious observations.”

A closer look at collection 1 on the next page, available here.

IHTGW Launches New Website & No Systems Collection

Samia  Malik’s IHTGW label launches her new collection No Systems, as well as a  brand new new website . Below, the brand’s intro the line:

NOSYSTEMS: we’re surrounded  by many type of systems: culture, traditional, political, consumer, jobs etc. All these systems take over soul purpose of our existence, and ultimate question is how important are these systems for our survival, or are these systems here to destroy us.  Our T -shirt line is based on breaking free from: rhetorical and mediocre systems. A continued story of geometric shapes and structures, putting together different angles, to represent unbalanced energies and collision of various energies. Continued colour story that always reflects physiological disruption.

ns2 540x405 IHTGW By Samia Malik Summer 2010: No Systems Collection

Loving  Samia Malik’s commitment to make apparel with meaning while creating what I consider to be  modern symbols. Here’s what she  had to say about her latest collection titled “No Systems” :

We’re surrounded in environments, with many type of systems: culture, traditional, political, consumer, jobs etc. All these systems take over soul purpose of our existence, and ultimate question is how important are these systems for our survival, or are these systems here to destroy us. T shirt line is based on breaking free from: rhetorical and mediocre systems. I continued story of geometric shapes and structures, putting together different angles, to represent unbalanced energies and collision of various energies. Continued colour story that always reflects physiological disruption.

Samia Malik ‘Ihtgw’ Spring/Summer 2010

Using conceptual prints Samia Malik created The  Ihtgw  ( I have to go Work)Spring/Summer 2010  as a statement on”urban structures, everyday life, propaganda, music and use of cheap labour within the fashion industry. ” The  unisex streetwear line has won me over as it opens the door not just to  a dialogue about vital issues and  topics  but,   also  to the possibility and necessity for this generation  to create its own  new symbols  and prints that hopefully will in turn become universal. On the next page a closer look at Samia Malik Ihtgw Spring/Summer 2010.

ihtgw noclass heart 540x405 Introducing: IHTGW by Samia Malik

Launched in 2002 , IHTGW ( I have to go work) by Samia Malik challenges some ideas and flaws of our society with the creation of what what I would call modern symbols. Just like the peace ‘cnd’ sign  by Gerald Holtom(1958) I see in Malik’s work what could be the  symbols of a new era  .

Here’s a look at two of  Malik’s  main collection: No Class an ongoing collection ” based on eradicating class systems, status symbols and racism. ” and ‘Race Against Race’, which is a statement  against the tireless race often run with no real goal than just to run . On the next page a closer at IHTGW on the next page.
