We had the pleasure of visiting Bijules booth this week-end and had a chance to drool at Jules Kim latest interpretation of jewellery as art. One of our favorite pieces were the nail rings with rubies and emeralds.See another beauty on the flip.

What we have always loved about fashion is it’s potential to bring joy. We as HighSnobette editors feel so lucky to not only have witnessed many of these special moments but to also have come to know and watch grow many of the artists and designers behind some of our favorite projects. Below in no particular order we share what we regard as some of the best, joy-bringing efforts of 2012:

Designer Melody Ehsani’s star has been on the rise for quite some time now, but her “Queen of the Jungle” necklace (above) in many ways stamped her official arrival. We lost count of the stylish celebrities spotted in this vivacious fun piece.

Leah McSweeney has always been a force of personality. She literally is the MTTM brand, as backed by an intensely loyal supporting staff + fan base. Like many young brands the label went through its stumbles when investors pulled out, but the tenacious McSweeney was able to hold on to the name and this year the label found its own inimitable stride again, as marked by the brand’s “Supreme Bitch” snapback cap, which received the blessing of none other mega-style star Rihanna.

Longtime favorite Jules Kim of Bijules Showcased her latest collection earlier this month at Creative Door. Through the lens of Diane Pernet we get a glimpse at Jules inspiration creative concepts and stunning jewellery. Enjoy!

For its 40th anniversary issue W magazine features Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowsa, Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley in a retrospective shoot looking back on four decades of fashion, as photographed by Steven Klein. The spread shows the modeles posing in the same setting but all representing the most formative style of each decade. So Mara (’70s) is shot wearing a graphic patterned shirt wearing pearls, a hat, and dark lips, Wasikowsa (’80s) is featured with copper red cropped hair and flashy make-up, Johansson (’90s) is the incarnation of the stylish goth (and looks delicious in her little black dress) and Knightley (’00s) looks pure and confident as femme fatale with red lips, bushy eyebrows and a masculine trench coat.

Leroy Jenkins, introduces their women’s line this year with their signature prints and focus on simple silhouettes. Friday evening  just got a lot more fun with the crew of Good Peoples along with Bijules partnering to bring you Summer Select Fridays at the Standard NY rooftoop. A casual gathering andchored on scenic views of Manhattan, music and talented hosts. This Friday, the one and only Kerin Rose  showcased her latest creations of A-Morir eyewear. Longtime Highsnobette fave , Jules Kim of Bijules opened her  boutique showroom with a multi-sensory ’Séance’ this evening . The intimate appointment only  underground space showcases her signature pieces in a unique setting,  aptly reflecting creativity, design an sensuality. On the next page get a peek of the opening hosted by Katie Longmyer.

Being a Snobette in our definition is  in many ways  about loving the authenticity in style and fashion in all its quality,  creativity and even quirkiness. While fast fashion mega brands have been praised with democratizing fashion, we often wish the offerings were more unique/original and did not get “inspired” by talented creatives who create lust-worthy pieces with originality and sass.  A few years back we noticed Madewell’s “love” of A PeaceTreaty and recently, the cool ladies of Sixsixsickgirls bring to our attention Topshop’s Nail tip ring, which clearly is a rendition of the famed Bijules nail ring. All we have to say is why? Why not create something unique?

We featured Bijules jewellery collection yesterday but the designer herself, Jules Kim, is always amazing to look at, too–the braid! On the next page check out her shoe collaboration with Vans, first shown on the runway for her Nycked swimwear label in Miami.
