Holy Ghost SS13 4 Snobettes Q&A With Holy Ghost

Munich based label Holy Ghost offers high quality apparel for the self-confident, urban city heroine. In other words…US! The brand was founded in 2010 by Ivana, Sedina and Jelena who decided to compile their passion and love for fashion, take the maximum advantage of their different backrounds in fashion and design to create the brand. This week, along Berlin Fashion Week, they will present the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection featuring berry tones, velvet pieces and lace details. We had the opportunity to ask the girls, just a few days before the show, about the collection, their inspiration and their plans for the future.

Read the full interview and take a first look at the Spring/summer collection on the next page.

Why did you choose to name your brand Holy Ghost. Is there any religious connection?

The short story is that there isn’t any religious background to the label. The philosophy of our brand name and the way it sounds, however, has influenced us so strongly that I even have it tattooed on my arm.

What is the message behind the subtitle ‘feminine urban spirit’?

Feminine and urban spirit is an attitude toward life with each piece representing its own spirit. The Holy Ghost woman is a city slicker, radiating power and self consciousness.

Who are the people behind the brand and what is is like to work in a team of three?

As a trained tailor, Ivana is running our atelier and taking care of the production while Sedina is in charge of the design. I am somehow the head of the label and take care of all the marketing issues. We’ve all been friends for quite a long time so it’s hard to remain professional at times. Our well-defined division of work allows us to even be of different opinions without worrying about the trio falling apart. Actually, it is exactly these opposing views that make our brand special.

What can we expect from the Holy Ghost MBFW show?

We will take our guests on a journey through time. This year’s collection is very dark and includes a lot of velvet and lace. The key piece of the collection is the “Smoking”, designed in the typical Holy Ghost manner.

Can you tell us three things to visualize your inspirational sources?

City trips, countries/continents, and a good movie!
