Iggy Azalea For Complex Magazine

Very gorgeous, charismatic, bold young woman; the potential for her to have her moment in the rap world is there. Thing is, she makes the common mistake of putting on that bad-girl-from-the-hood intonation which takes away from her authenticity. In other words, she’s selling but we’re not buying. Via Complex.

wow, I thought I was the only one. I dont mean to sound like a hater but her rap voice is on overloud. You can hear her trying so hard to sound grungy and street and nonetheless where she came from, its not authentic, or at least doesnt come off that way. Shes a pretty face, she couldve been well off just rapping normally without the effort in her voice. oh well.
lol, you are not alone. she is probably sincerely inspired by u.s. rap artists and while there’s nothing wrong w influence and even taking on a character imo the creativity has to come from a place that resonates truth and in her case, for me anyway, it doesn’t.
