Thanks to a video tape showing Kanye West going off on the lighting guy for messing up the lights (though some are saying it’s part of the act and he’s doing the same thing in all his shows) for “All Of The Lights” during his “Watch The Throne” concert this past weekend, a lot of people are also noticing the outfit West performed in. The top is Givenchy but no one seems to have identified the leather skirt yet (perhaps lent by Marc Jacobs?). The kicks are the Nike Air Yeezy style launching later this month. 

Anyway, interesting to see rap fashion trend less conservatively. From Lil Wayne’s leopard leggings to now Kanye in a skirt, it certainly makes for more compelling entertainment. And who knows, maybe it’s a positive sign that rap is becoming less obsessed with the “no homo” sadness of the early 00s.

Here’s a South Park video clip that includes an appearance of a shirtless and muscled Marc Jacobs doll, in an episode called “Ganging Up On The One Percent,” whose theme we’re assuming riffs off of the Occupy Wall Street movement. In this scene, Eric Cartman turns to his toys, including “Muscle Man Marc” for sympathy after being turned on by his friends. Later Jacobs has a speaking roll during a tea party as he and the other toys help Cartman figure out what has become of his favorite toy, Clyde Frog (who looks a lot like the frog tattooed on Jacob’s right arm). Newyorkmagazine has the clip showing Jacobs’ speaking part, which is decidedly less colorful subdued compared to the other characters, who curse out Cartman’s mom. See a screen capture of Muscle Man Marc on the next page.

We showed a sneak peek of the finished “Girl Panic” video by Duran Duran yesterday and today Style has a behind-the-scenes look, which includes an explanation of how the band came up with the idea of having supermodels take on their roles as musicians for the video.

The nails did phenomenom has gone bonkers with everyone now throwing their take on the trend into the ring. This one is sort of clever actually, coordinating a set of Marc Jacobs cashmere gloves with Nars polish.
