Rodarte x Opening Ceremony Embroidered Sequin Trousers

18 October 2011, 20.32 | Posted in Designer Collaboration, Retail | No comments »

RodartexOpeningCeremony1 360x540 Rodarte x Opening Ceremony Embroidered Sequin Trousers

These newly-arrived embroidered sequin trousers by Rodarte x Opening Ceremony are visual stunners, but at $1,440 given the label we must admit to finding the pricing for this item and others in the collabo to be a bit baffling, especially if you scroll down the page and see that last season’s collection is in many cases slashed more than 50 percent off.

And you know us, dear readers, as committed Snobs generally we don’t obsess over dollar amounts.

Highsnobette- Maison Close- Cul Nu- Via Sugar Cookies

Three sets of unconnected ruffled elastic create an illusion, thus the name, ’Cul Nu’   (tr.naked arse) panties. These trompe l’oeil  could be a whole case study on human behavior, arousal and all that good st uff. Definitely  not our forte, so to us it’s an amusing ”wow.” By the bosses over at  Maison Close, available at the fab Sugar Cookies.

Hurley x Nike x Otis College ‘Considered’ Exhibit

18 October 2011, 16.59 | Posted in Art, Designer Collaboration | No comments »

HurleyxNike (5)

In an effort to promote greater sustainability in fashion, Hurley and Nike collaborated with Otis College on a student-designed collection whose themes were based on the Nike considered index tool, which, according to press includes three themes:

The first, regenerative, is a focus on reusing, recycling or repurposing materials, garments or found objects to create new apparel expressions. The second, heirloom, challenges students to create classic, timelessly valuable designs that improve with age and use. And the third, sustainable sesign, is a modern approach to design solutions, teaching students to consider low impact, environmentally positive supply chains and defy traditional approaches to apparel design through creative use of construction, materials and process.

The 18-look capsule collection debuted in Spring 2011 via a live runway show at The Beverly Hilton, and will be presented at Hurley’s H Space Gallery, kicking off with a VIP reception this Thursday, October 20th until December 16th. It then heads to Beaverton, where it will be displayed at Nike’s headquarters.

TerrenceKoForfex1 Terrence Koh x Forfex Fur High Tops

Artist Terrence Koh collaborates with Italian sneaker brand Forfex and Opening Ceremony on these fuzzy white high tops, which have been deemed “Bunny Boots.” On the OC blog, Forfex’s Gio Forbice interviews Koh and here is what he had to say about the shoes:

GF: Do you remember how bunny boots started?
TK: yes we were in the park in istanbul and we were both looking at the full moon and thought we should make all white boots about bunnys that live inside the moon.

On the next page, see the white moon boots that are part of the same collabo.

VansxJesse Jo (2)

Vans teams up with musician and muse Jesse Jo on a second collection, featuring cut-offs, jean jackets, cropped tops, fanny pack, backpacks, sox and even boy undies. Jo has been labeled the anti-it girl and indeed she does fly under the radar, which is kind of a nice–leave a little room for some mystery for a change.

See the rest of the lookbook on the next page, including a very neat blue velour mini dress with a cut out back.
