Zora Neale Hurston Via Black Chicks W Freckles

One of many things that’s great about blogs is their often joyful presentation and celebration of niche. This image of author-great Zora Neale Hurston (check out what an obvs badass she was!) comes from a blog called Black Chicks With Freckles, which features a combination of images culled from the web, plus readers’ own submissions. There is also the occassional commentary, including this:

“I seriously used to cringe when people described me, using my freckles as an undeniable way to identify me. It seemed so predictable.. Besides there’s much more to me than the freckles on my face. …Or so I thought. Now that I’m older I’ve realized there absolutely isn’t. Every aspect of my life, personality, and spirit can be closely aligned with these unique ‘sun kisses’ that grace my face.”
