We  attended a presentation for Ugg’s very much anticipated high end line a few weeks ago.  Clearly we can see  the brands desire  to expose consumers to the depth and width of their assortment and maybe  be known  for more than  their classic sheepskin boots, which are pretty much everywhere during the winter(still after all these years!). The Ugg “Collection” as it is simply called features classic  slightly rugged silhouettes  and lux materials like colored pony and fur for what we see as a very hefty price point. Yes this is a men’s item again (watch it, Jeff, we’re coming for you!), the thing is this Ugg commercial featuring Tom Brady (wife of Gisele to the fashionistas; superstar quarterback for the New England Patriots for the sports lovers)  fascinates me because as a big ESPN watcher I was intrigued by how intensely he was mocked when word first hit he was signing on as the face of Ugg boots for men, with further teasing not long after when he was spotted possibly wearing a scrunchie and definitely dancing awkwardly while in Brazil.

The ad, with backing music by Mos Def, will premiere on this season’s kick off of Monday Night Football (New England vs. Miami) and you know what? I think it’s gonna work. The music is good, there’s no sign of Giselle but there is a pittbull and it’s not too, too macho…actually sort of perfect for the demographic it’s trying to target. It’ll be interesting to see what if anything ESPN and their ilk have to say about it.

As part of her work with hip, U.S. retailer Barney’s, we get a peek at the daily life of Carine Roitfeld. It’s quite nice to look at, but dificult to understand for the most part because of her accent. Which is a shame because when she did speak understandably she said sweet things like,

“People are more important than the clothes. Clothes could be a nice envelope, but it’s more important the letter inside the envelope.”

Elle is featuring four models on the cover of its October issue with the theme being they all work for Victoria’s Secret. We liked this one of Chanel Iman in a Herve Leger swimsuit the best. But on another note, question: did Victoria Secret pay for this cover/product placement? It seems crazy that Elle would do this for free–especially given it’s October, which isn’t exactly know as a month when anyeone is pushing bathing suits.

Selectism has given us the first look at T by Alexander Wang’s collaborative effort with Dockers, which came about as part of Wang’s prize for winning GQ magazines’s “Best New Menswear Designer” award. Which, is maybe more of a prize for Dockers then Wang? Kidding, sort of, probably it was a good learning experience for both. And yes, this is for the fellas, but like that’s ever stopped us from stealing before! The collection will be available at Bloomingdales and will be launched tonight in conjunction with FNO.

Armani just posted its first ad, featuring Rihanna for it jeans campaign. Luv the hair! And the denim is highwaisted–interesting! Will need some time to digest but so far, it gets a thumbs up.

It’s probably sacrilegious to mention an illustrious “maison” like Givenchy, and the Thunder Cats in the same sentence but truly  that is the first thing that came to mind  at first glance of these frames. Hence the reason why we’re  smitten with the Givenchy “Panther” eyewear collection. And the fur on the rims? We’re melting. See many more hues at Stylepantry.

Our beloved A  Peace Treaty gives us a little tease of  their Spring 2012 collection. We’re already loving the  beach side inspiration. Then again we love whatever do anyway. It’s just  one of those labels you cannot help but get attached to…global inspiration, social consciouness, impeccable styling,  pieces you know you will wear forever and even pass down.  More on the flip, via APT.

It’s Lara Stone for V Magazine’s “Heroes” issue, worked on by Mario Testino and Carine Roitfeld, who used Elizabeth Taylor as the inspiration for a 72-page editorial. The images here and the ones of Stone on the next page really are lovely. The eyebrows are fantastic of course but so is her faded ginger hair, which matches her lipstick oh so perfectly, plus the diamonds and the lighting, and so on and so forth. Via Stylist.
