NYFW: Sally LaPointe Spring 2012 Exclusive Backstage Images

Highssnobette-Sally Lapointe backstage ss 2012 by Hannah Newbery (3)

One of our favorite shows to attend at New York fashion week is Sally LaPointe . From concept to production her runway presentations are shows in the true sense of the word transporting attendees into another world for a few minutes. For Spring the inspiration revolved around decaying architecture, more precisely  “The Renwick Ruins” in Staten Island, New York. Ethereal and bold, silhouettes are long and fluid with a succession of sharp and soft angles. Highly Snobette approved independently of  any pop star endorsements. On the next page we give you a glimpse of the ambiance backstage via Hannah Newbery. More runway images to follow.

Highsnobette-General Idea ss2012 by William Yan (4)

General Idea’s Spring 2012 collection speaks to designer Bumsuk Choi’s skill at mixing color, patterns and textures. Inspired by “les garcons sur la plage” (boys on the beach), the collection is anchored by nautical stripes and  color blocking, giving new life to items like the knitted shorts above, which we would gladly borrow. A peek at our faves courtesy of William Yan, complete runway here.

Amy Winehouse x Tony Bennett Video: ‘Body & Soul’

09 September 2011, 22.27 | Posted in Music, celebrity | No comments »

A little heartbreaking but a must watch nonethless. It’s an excerpt of Amy Winehouse’s collaborative effort with Tony Bennett on the song, “Body & Soul,” which they recorded in March of this year. In a short interview included in the video, Amy chats about her father, “Mitchell,” and how excited he was to hear they would be doing that particular song. It’s known that her father sung Frank Sinatra songs to her as a child and this video makes it clear that other jazz singers were in his lullaby repertoire as well. She explains:

“Well my dad sort of in the meantime would be singing ‘Body & Soul.’ My dad, personally, himself, he was like, ’Oh. It’s only my favorite song in the world you’re going to sing. Oh my god,’ he goes, ‘You even know it!’ And I was like, of course I know it, Mitchell, I’m your daughter. Of course I know it. And it was really exciting that he chose that song. Because I do love it. It’s such a beautiful written song and it’s a song you can do a lot with.”

Look at the video and see if the gaze she gives at :21 isn’t that of one recalling the fondest of childhood memories and then watch to see how animated she becomes when she explains the process and how the song ended. And oh the voice! Like I said, a bit of a tearjerker….Look for the complete video on September 14. Via Wotyougot.

Sjp1 371x540 Sarah Jessica Parker: Bold Colors & White Shoes

The funny aspect of having your  fave things in style is when they become trends and all of a sudden you see “how-to” features on how to achieve a look or wear a certain piece. Dame SJP is seen here rocking pretty awesomely a pair of white pumps which has been co-Snobette Lois’ thing like forever. Is this a sign that after the blush tones, white shoes are next for ”it” shoes status? Images via Ohlala.
