Nicki Minaj & Anna Wintour At Herrera

NickiMinajAnaWintour 2 424x540 Nicki Minaj & Anna Wintour At Herrera

This image pretty much burned up the fashion internets yesterday. It’s Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour, front row at Caroline Herrera. (What wasn’t mentioned much was that Minaj was also sitting next to W editor-in-chief, Stefano Tanchi. ) I saw that Fashionista titled its post “Ann Wintour Forced To Sit Next To Nicki Minaj At Caroline Herrera,” and I thought about titling this post “Anna Wintour Continues Relevancy Tour By Rubbing Shoulders With Rappers,” but whatever, it’s a new day and I’m not sure how I even feel about Minaj’s fashion choices for this event and in general lately so not feeling so inspired to rush to her defense.

On another note, looks like that’s her boyfriend, Sarafee Samuels, sitting behind her and he’s next to Lynn Yaeger, formerly the fashion editor for the Village Voice.

Jen Kao ‘Lethal Manicure’ By Wanda Ruiz For CDN

CDN Lethal Manicure Jen Kao (2)

Some major nail art love for this look by Wanda Ruiz for Jen Kao. Titled “Lethal Love” the bold color gradation  is show stopping and has us fiending:

The technique used  was airbrush diffused, gradation manicures that attract the eye with bold shades, but like a poisonous frog, have dangerous undertones. These four uniquely artful manicures were shaded using an airbrush tool, but can be re-created at home using CND Colours in Midnight Sapphire, Anchor Blue, Rouge Red, and Green Scene each combined with Inkwell and topped with Air Dry Top Coat while wet for an ombre finish. NYFW: Alexander Wang + White Shoes

12 September 2011, 21.32 | Posted in Fashion Week, Shoes | 2 comments »

AlexanderWang-2 (1)

In what is probably his strongest if not most distinctive collection yet, Alexander Wang for Spring 2012 catches print fever (inspired perhaps a bit by Rodarte and Prada Spring 2011?) and adds newness and electricity with activewear-inspired silhouettes–done to perfection because it’s a style aesthetic that has always been a backbeat for the line.

And yet, as strong as the clothes were, the white shoes he showed….just, oh my. And the truth is while it pains me a bit because white shoes have always been my secret, private signature and now they’re exploded all over a major runway for all the copiers to follow, nonetheless, these are a major must-own.

Hot off the presses is the news that Steve Madden tapped  Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as creative directors for Superga North America:

The Olsens are tastemakers, and people pay attention to what they’re thinking and what they’re wearing,” Madden told Footwear News last week. In their new roles, the pair will oversee all creative and marketing initiatives, as well as have oversight for distribution. The line is targeted to upscale department stores and high-end speciality boutiques.

“We hope to introduce a fresh perspective to this iconic collection, while honoring Superga’s legacy of timeless design,” Ashley Olsen said in a statement.
