NYFW: Jeremy Scott Spring 2012

JeremyScottSpring2012 (2)

Jeremy Scott goes all Daisy May at the country fair a la 1980 on us and I confess to feeling confused. Which is the meanest thing I’m gonna say. Why you ask? Cuz his fuzzy animal sneakers with Adidas have earned him lifetime immunity. It’s as simple as that!

Street Style: Surface To Air Ice Cream Slinger

SurfaceToAir 405x540 Street Style: Surface To Air Ice Cream Slinger

We caught this lovely lass on the way out of the Surface To Air store-opening party in SoHo last week. She was serving up free (and delicious) ice cream from a truck brought in for the event. Check out her nail game!

Me and SGP were cracking ourselves up after, trying to guess her ethnicity and agreeing that the standard formula for white chicks in NYC with flavor is to conclude they’re Russian. She’s slick, wears gold, has edgy style….Russian! Meanwhile, she’s probably straight from Iowa with a family line that goes back to the Mayflower.

One more look on the next page.

Video: Amy Winehouse & Tony Bennett ‘Body & Soul”

14 September 2011, 16.00 | Posted in Music, celebrity | 1 comment »

We showed the preview of the “Body & Soul” video last week and here now is the full video, released today on Amy Winehouse’s birthday. A little back story on the session acccording to Tony Bennett (via Billboard), who said Winehouse was his favorite to perform with on an upcoming album of duets, scheduled for a September 20th launch date.

“I think [the video for the track] will surprise everybody as to how well we ended up getting along,”  said Bennett, who recorded with Winehouse at EMI’s Abbey Road studios in London. “She was a little apprehensive about how to go about [the song], and I said to her, ‘I may be wrong, but it sounds like you’re influenced by Dinah Washington,’ and that just blew her mind. She just said, ‘Oh my God, you mean you can actually hear that? She’s my idol!’ And that relaxed her, and that’s the record we ended up making.”

Happy birthday, babygirl.

The use of computers to generate techy prints is clearly a  millennium trend designers are using to create newness statements. Rodarte hops on board with its Spring 2012 collection, featuring pixilated prints inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, mentions of which have dominated the brand’s reviews. Images via Coolechic.

On the next page see a full view of the dresses, which, if you were one of those artsy college girl who was all over the printed vintage dress trend and still are fond of the look….you’re gonna be in heaven. Also get a look at the shoes (image via T), designed by Burak Uyan.

NYFW: Coco & Breezy Spring/Summer 2012

Highsnobette-Coco&Breezy ss2012 (6)

Last night we attended Coco & Breezy’s first runway for their signature eyewear. Titled “Rainy Days,” the collection “represents a shield of protection  for those taunted for being different.” Known for bold studded eyewear with a sci-fi edge and the idea of being out of this world, Spring 2012  sees a softer more subtle silhouette in various hues we can see as having a broader appeal.

The show opened with an umbrella clad ballerina, a violinist  a short film and a voice narrating the trajectory of the twins who pretty much dropped averything in their native Minesota and moved to New York to follow their fashion dreams .

While the eyewear was the highlight, the closing looks featuring body hugging dresses made  in collaboration with Courtney M. Roberts (a college student)  caught our eye as well as a special appearance by Omarion who of course made us want to belt out a rendition of  ”Ice Box” (can’t help it). On the next page a closer look the eywear and a few attendees.
