jay z kanye west watch the throne session photos 12 540x359 Interesting Photo Of Beyonce And Jay

A lot of hype is being built around Watch The Throne, a soon-to-be released record from Jay-Z and Kanye West, available for preorder August 2nd. Part of the push includes recording session images, with the one featured here one of the more intriguing of the bunch. Lots of body language going down between Jay and Bee. Can’t quite figure it out but it sure is fun to try! Via Hypebeast.

Swimdress 360x540 Norma Kamali Zora Lace Swim Dress

The idea of a swimdress never crossed my mind, but thankfully it has Norma Kamali’s, giving us an excuse to channel the inner Gaga and Rihanna no-pants look when we’re  miles away from any body of water. Available at Net-a-porter.

Kanye West’s Clothing Line Might Surprise Many

amberyslfront 518x540 Kanye Wests Clothing Line Might Surprise Many

While we could digress on the power of money and access and the fact that there are so many talented designers who could benefit from the backing of Kanye West,we also have to acknowledge that the pursuit of one’s dream is one to respect regardless of odds, pedigree or even education. Nonetheless, after Mr West styled this shoot we were ready for catsuits and freakum dresses. Alice Cavanagh who recently got a peek at Kanye West’s clothing line says otherwise:

Two days later I visited his design studio — a surprisingly modest space in the 1st arrondissement, that looked reassuringly like an established atelier. It was a Saturday, but Christine, Louise and two other young designers (one of whom works with Givenchy, no less) were all beavering away. There were sketches out and I am happy to report that I liked what I saw — not a bodystocking jumpsuit in sight. Come October, we could all be pleasantly surprised.

Gwyneth’s Hair In The Coach Ads

GwynethCoach

We may be Snobby but we’re not petty so I’m loathe to point out the frizziness of Gwyneth’s hair in her new Coach ads, but frankly I’m fascinated by it! This is a big campaign by an international company where money isn’t an issue so did no one notice or was all the flyaway hair in the shot on the right done on purpose…like since it’s an ad for foreign markets maybe there’s some cultural cue I don’t know about?

TrustoCorp: ‘You Look Lovely’

TrustoCorpYouLookLovely 540x416 TrustoCorp: You Look Lovely

Merry sign pranksters, TrustoCorp are up to their tricks again, this time it’s a subway sign at the Nassau Avenue G subway entrance in Brooklyn, with letters rearranged to read “You look lovely, keep it up.” For those of you not in the know (like me until like five minutes ago) TrustoCorp “is a New York based artist (or artists) dedicated to highlighting the hypocrisy and hilarity of human behavior through sarcasm and satire.” Visit the site to see other signs they’ve altered around the city. And if you’re not in New York, they’re hiring nationwide! Via Animalny.

Riccardo Tisci & Tim Blanks Talk Givenchy Couture Autumn/Winter 2011

19 July 2011, 23.19 | Posted in Couture, Fashion | 1 comment »

The Givenchy couture “Birds of Paradise” collection by Riccardo Tisci and his atelier of genius craftsmanship is one of those presentations that nearly takes our breath away. While the images convey the grandiose appeal of the apparel, the above video brings us closer to couture and why it still exists. It’s not about obsession as Tim Blanks offers, but about emotion according to Tisci, who says, “Very experimental while keeping the tradition of the house,” hence his reason for not presenting couture on a catwalk, adding, “Couture  should be something that stays forever in your wardrobe.” On the next page his favorite dress, enjoy.
