When it come to men’s style, there are many favorite classic labels, however John Varvatos has continually had this sexy edge that make us weak in the knees. When he used Slash a while back we stopped breathing, and now having the Roots makes us stand applaud. I for one, never understood why The Roots rarely if ever play on the radio? Having seen them live we totally agree with what Varvatos had to say about them:

The Roots are one of the most creative musical forces on the planet,” Varvatos said in a written statement. “Their performances with almost every music icon in the world, of all genres, are mind-blowing and inspiring.”

The “consensus” in fashion trend speak is that this Autumn there will not be many over-the-knee boots at retail. But that does not stop us from lusting after the good ones. These Ash “Austonian” boots, recently featured in Free People’s July catalogue are the perfect amalgam of a cowboy boot and a  Minnetonka fringe boot.  Cleverly  available in non black colors (’cause most over-the knee-boots fans already have black ones), including burgundy(”shedron”) and dark dusty gray(”stone”). Angles on the flip. Swooning hard…

This is model Britney Harris in attendance at the Bikini Swim Club, apparently some big outdoor pool party held in various locations. Harris was present at the San Diego version, hosted by King magazine this past Saturday, featuring Candy Coated Swimwear. All that being said, the turquoise blue is basically perfect against her skin. The sunglass guy with the beard and cycling cap (!) in the background….not so much!

Chloe Sevigny was profiled in the NY Times over the weekend and as is often the case the theme of the story was anchored on her status as a style maven. Chloe however, protests that she’s over fashion when she states:

“I’m just not as excited by it,” Ms. Sevigny said, of both. “I don’t know if it is a reflection of what they are producing, or just my feelings toward it. I bought a pair of Birkenstocks today — let’s be real. I wanted a chunky sandal that was functional. That should tell you where I am at as far as fashion.”

Which, all we can say is oh Chloe, we think you’re fab but you know as well as anyone that all the cool, New York fashion girls are wearing Birkenstocks or some iteration thereof. If any more evidence is needed there’s a recent Yelp post on the Buffalo Exchange thrift store in the East Village written by (yet another) miffed seller complaining about the store’s purchase for resale policy (balanced by those haughtily bragging, ”You just have to know what they want!”) with her ire raised by a clerk who stated that “high heels are out of style.” As if! Well, the truth is, they sort of are at the moment.
