Karl Lagerfeld hosted a coming out party in Paris for his latest collaboration with Coca-Cola Light. It featured a bunch of Lagerfeld look-a-likes, and a bevvy of beautiful models and actresses. Singer Uffie is shown above. We spoke yesterday about the great exchanges that can come from collaborations, but this one has always rubbed the wrong way. It’s meaning is simply lost on me–no offense to the diet soda addicts in the crowd!
After the flip, images of Lagerfeld, plus more of Uffie (including a close up on her shoes), Lily Cole, Audrey Marnay, Lou Lesage, Beatrice Rosen and Nicole Trunfio.
Forever with its eye on projecting itself artfully, Prada has commissioned three illustrators to interpret the “Minimal-Baroque” collection of sunglasses from the Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection in a series of drawings to be used as part of this season’s campaign. This is an entire personal quirk I realize, but for whatever reason, I have never been a fan of fashion illustrations to the point where they even irritate me! That being said, some of these are quite nice, though that just might be because the collection itself was not only strong, but very graphics and color oriented so it translated well to illustration. Conceptual designs that make all our edgy fashion dreams come true , Rad Hourani once again delivers a jaw dropping assortment of convertible unisex apparel for Autumn/Winter 2011. Six transformable garments in 22 looks.Do not believe the naysayers , creativity, innovation is not dead, it’s just that style conformity is too alive and well, hence the fact that in these parts we strive to diminish it as much as we can . Hasan Hejazi ’s aesthetic for evening wear is one we’re definitely smitten with. The young label consistently focuses on a sleek, body conscious silhouettes with just a few futuristic details, that pop. His Autumn/Winter 2011 collection makes strong contrast statements of color and texture. Luv! Enjoy a full look on the flip.
Enjoy a look at Pret-a-Surf’s women’s surfing collection through this short film directed by Duffy Higgins and John Jaxheimer. Aptly titled “The Next Time” (La Prochaine Fois), the film adorably illustrates, crushes, seduction and the little games we love to play…
This series of before-and-after pin-up women is already causing a lot of buzz , with a lot of attention being paid to how the bodies were modified. It’s fascinating yes–the early days of airbrush is how some are describing it, but it’s also fun to key in on the fashion, hair and makeup and what parts of the body were drawn out for emphasis. Looking at the entire set, we notice short hair, wasp waists, and most intriguingly, how every foot is posed to show a high arch….foot fetish back in the day much?? As well, all the girls are white, which makes me wonder if there exists anywhere pin-up women of color. Via Hairpin (where the analysis is all about “genesis of the kiss face”).
A couple more on the next page, with the full series at Buzzfeed.
Due to an intense lack of sun, I find myself now strangely drawn to peacock prints and accessories. Taking the liberty of once again featuring peacocks this time in the form of bold and glorious jewellery. Now available at Patricia Field’s. The earrings shown above are a favorite! You have to give Opening Ceremony its propers. It got in on the whole heritage/Navajo trend early, early on–in fact, the OC Pendleton Spring lookbook (on sale now, people) featured here is part of a partnership between the companies that’s existed for five years!
Check out what one of the owners of Pendleton had to say about their joint efforts in an excerpt from an interview conducted by Opening Ceremony just over a year ago:
Opening Ceremony: Can you discuss any notable collaborations you have done? Charles Bishop: We have done many collaborations; however, working with Opening Ceremony has opened our eyes, stretched our imaginations and extended our horizons. It has been fun and we look forward to future opportunities.
The beauty of collaborations stated in a nutshell. Many more images of clothing and horsies on the next page.
Joyrich has teamed up with Keith Haring on a capsule collection of bikinis, which will launch in late Spring. The collaboration will include two patterns: “Men And Dogs” and “Stars And Stripes,” which you see on the next page.
Both items will be available from our friends at Karmaloop, which by the way, we’re told, is launching a monthly site-wide scavenger hunt. It’s called “Peep Show” and when you find the hidden item, send an email detailing what it is and a winner will be randomly picked from entrants. This month’s item is now up–check here for more details.
While the subtle crystal embellishment on these sandals is a statement, the contrasted printed platform is really where they shine. A clear case of shoe love, available at net-a-porter, view various angles on the flip.
