Actress Reese Witherspoon lands the cover of U.S. Vogue’s May issue. And it’s seeming more and more something has been decided at Vogue about the look of the cover. A shift seemed to occur with Lady Gaga and Rihanna, but one could have argued they were styled in a less straightlaced because they’re musicians, but no, this cover featuring the super-straight Reese is somehow different than covers past, too. It’s not just the hair and makeup, but something about the presentation of a well known subject so that she looks slightly unfamiliar.

Last week we were complaining about the collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and Coca-Cola’s Diet Coke because there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it. As if by magic, this video popped up today on Racked explaining the connection, from Lagerfeld himself:

“I love the idea and as everybody knows I drink Diet Coke and nothing else, night and day…..For me it was pure pleasure to do this campaign for people I like, for a product I love.”

“Twerk” by Georgia-born, Lady, aka Shameka Brown has been out as a single for about six months and now a video (which, flat out, will get you fired if you watch it at a corp job) has been released. We spotted it on WAH nails, which was pointing out the artist’s excellent nail game. This video is going to cause a lot of different reactions. Besides all the “twerking,” some are going to be mad about her over-the-top pony tail, but hey, if the same looks shows up on a runway six months from now it will be applauded as statement-making so it’s all a matter of perspective. The interesting part to me is how this video clearly features strip club dances moves but there are no men. Also, Lady herself doesn’t  twerk…..but hey, why should she? Afer all, she’s the boss.

You see them from blocks away and their appeal creates a visual fascination that has stolen the hearts of many shoe loving women and men.  Needless to say those red soles are like gold! Vigilant about his creation, Christian Louboutin  files suit againts  YSL, who we’re surprised would even produce the shoes :

Christian Louboutin filed the lawsuit Thursday in federal court in Manhattan. He is seeking a court injunction against the sale of the supposed copycat shoes in the U.S. and damages of at least $1 million. “Mr. Louboutin is the first designer to develop the idea of having red soles on women’s shoes,” the lawsuit states.
