Lady Gaga vists with Google, where she is interviewed by Google’s Vice President of Consumer Affairs, Marissa Mayer and takes questions from fans in the audience and on video. The presentation starts with a statistical analysis of Lady Gaga’s presence on Google, which is impressive to say the least.

CNN interviews Christian Louboutin on his design process, including a behind-the-scenes visit to his workplace. There’s also an interview with Fred Rolland, the head of Louboutin’s atelier, a treat for those fascinated by what goes into the construction of a shoe.  According to the video, Louboutin has created over 12,000 designs over the course of his 20-year career, though he never worries about running out of ideas, “If you open your eyes inspiration is everywhere.”

Entirely self taught as a photographer Mariel Clayton uses dolls to create imaginary  fantasy worlds where there are no limits or creating sets that illustrate deeper meanings than the images.  Incredibly detailed, she drescribes her work as ‘ not for everyone’. Concepts boutique in Cambridge, Mass., has a couple of new offerings for the ladies. One is a red, polka-dot canvas mid with retro appeal, the other speaks to the sneaker trend-of-the-moment, a thoroughly modern lightweight running shoe (above). See the mid on the next page.

Outerwear will be this Autumn’s must-update item and we get some nice offerings from Remade In Switzerland that speak to the military looks that are becoming so huge. The line comes from a collaboration between Swiss Army knife makers Victorinox and U.K. designer Christopher Ræburn and all the materials are recylced “utilizing decommissioned military stocks of uniform and parachute fabrics to create functional, intelligent, and meticulously crafted garments.” See more styles on the next page.

Barneys New York has tapped Roitfeld for a multifaceted initiative that has the former French Vogue editor in chief serving as guest editor and stylist — as well as muse and inspiration — for fall, collaborating with photographer Mario Sorrenti and Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman.

Roitfeld will not only style and edit Barneys’ Sorrenti-shot advertising campaign, catalogue and fall mailers; she will put her stylist’s touch on the store’s famous Madison Avenue windows, which will be unveiled in September. Lots more on the next page.

It’s very exciting,” Roitfeld told WWD in an exclusive interview from Paris. “It’s a new kind of project for me. It’s good to have a new life, because now I can do projects that I never dreamed of before.”
