Lucky for the Snobettes, we were able to attend retail genius Jeffrey Kalinsky’s super fun, Jeffrey Fashion Cares benefit gala, held on the Intrepid (an ex-aircraft carrier that functions as a museum) on New York’s Hudson River last night. The event included silent auctions on hundreds of donated items, as well as a fashion show, and by the end of the evening well over a half million dollars was raised to assist organizations whose focus is outreach to the gay and lesbian community. It was a meticulously staged event and bravo to Kalinsky, who has steered it for eight years. The level of organization and work that goes into it is clearly massive. On this page (yes, that’s a Proenza Schouler PS1 bag) and the page to follow, a glimpse at some of the items included in the auctions.
Theatrical like only she can, Andrea Crews presented her ‘Les Morts Vivants de La Mode’ ( Walking Dead of Fashion) Collection earlier this month in Paris. Enjoy !
Very much in step with this season’s love affair with stripes, Chanel offers a “Petit Shopping” bag, as part of a The Away Project, a shop in shop organized by Nike and Colette in an effort to celebrate France’s national soccer team, which is sponsored by Nike. Other labels in on the stripiness include Comme des Garçons, Hermès, Ladurée, Longchamp, MontBlanc, Swatch, Trousselier and Yves Saint Laurent.
It’s not the best quality, but you get the idea–Gisele completely madeover via disco-era lush brown curls and makeup. Even her dress and pose have Donna Summer written all over them. Via TFS.
Straight from the Autumn/Winter 2011 runway, the “Second Skin” and ”The Offering” sterling silver bracelets designed in collaboration with Betony Vernon are now available to purchase on Wang’s etail site. Priced from $2,500-$3,000, there are just eight pieces in total and each is numbered. On the next page, see the bracelet as worn on the runway. If you will look, you’ll see that it’s not exactly a bracelet as much as a hand cuff. Or something.
Slightly reminiscent of Alexander Wang’s asymmetrical dress from about two years ago, the wonderful duo of Sass & Bide provide an edgy little dress that is too clever and easy to rock to ignore. Available at Pixiemarket, detailed view on the next page.
Sang A Im-Propp created her Sang A. handbags line about five years ago with an distinct aesthetic rooted in exotic skins and über functionality . The Autumn/Winter 2011 collection features skins as well as a special custom polka dot leather pattern design . The bag silhouettes include stunning interpretations of her signature pop bag as well as , clutches , sling bags and the convertible ”Out” bag (above), which converts from a messenger to a backpack with various interpretations in between. Needless to say we’re smitten. Take a closer look at Sang A’s lustworthy accessories on the flip. All images courtesy of Sang A.
Everyone is getting in on the pop-up shop concept, including the Girl Scouts. This year between March 14-May 5th, you can purchase Samoas, Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils, Tagalongs and Lemon Chalet Cremes at $4 a box at shops located in all five boroughs of New York. I’m a Tagalong (the peanut butter ones) woman myself, but according to the Girl Scouts, last year’s most popular cookie was the Somoa, followed closely by Thin Mints and then Trefoils.
Shot against the backdrop of a sleepy U.S. town whose glory days are in its past, the Jeffrey Campbell shoes featured in this Spring/Summer lookbook look right at home, inspired as they are from the vintage racks. Still, much like the always modern blue skies that fill the pictures, JC’s shoes stay current via the brand’s signature over-the-top platforms and wedges, slashing leather straps and distinct color stories. Tons more on the next page.
