Louis Vuitton Handbags Autumn 2011

 Louis Vuitton Handbags Autumn 2011

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again, when it comes to Louis Vuitton runway shows, keep an eye on the bags for they are  the label’s money maker. The Autumn 2011 collection shown during Paris Fashion Week was overall a strong one, with what looks like four or five different themes, starting with the logo collection, which was highlighted by bags with frame silhouettes (which Miu Miu also showed). Generally frame bags have an automatic vintage feel and LV’s are no exception, though the glossy logo leather somehow gives them a gangster moll edge, which adds to their appeal. There was also a satin logo group, and a tote handbag  collection, featuring rich colors like burgundy and green. Finally a fleece fur group, the kind of bag you buy when you are a very rich girl blessed with multiple LVs and are looking for something novel and different. A very solid, back-to-basics collection that should do great at retail. Many more images on the next page.

Giselle Bundchen, whose husband, Tom Brady, is causing all sorts of controversy with his hair styling choices, is featured wearing Dolce & Gabana on the first Vogue Paris cover shot under new editor, Emmanuelle Alt’s direction. And yes, the look of the shot has a decidedly lighter feel than that of her predecessor, Carine Roitfeld, and is almost U.S. Vogue-like in its directness and lack of subtext.

First Look At Rihanna’s April Vogue Cover!

VogueUSARihanna 444x540 First Look At Rihannas April Vogue Cover!

We get a first look at Rihanna’s cover for April Vogue photographed by Annie Leibovitz against what looks like an ocean backdrop. Her hair, dress and make-up are stunning, with a shot that’s so full body it appears she has to hunch over to fit in the magazine. The main headline on the cover is “World’s Most Beautiful Bodies,” but we have to shake our heads at the one accompanying Rihanna’s story. It reads, “Oh Fame, Family And How She Really Feels About Her Curves.” Only Vogue would look at the svelte Rihanna and see curves! And what exactly is the meaning of the over-used curves anyway? I can’t think of too many women, including very skinny supermodels, who don’t have some.

JoesMicroSkinnyFlair Joes Skinny Micro Flair Jeans

There’s going to be a lot of turbulance in the world of denim silhouettes this year. The low-rise skinny that’s held the perch of dominance for so long is being challenged by mid-rise and high-waisted flairs, plus trouser-inspired cuts, featuring pleated fronts and tapered legs. And here we have Joe’s Jeans offering the emerging rocker-type bottom, which is a skinny/flair hybrid for those who want a new look but aren’t ready to say good-bye to their skinnies. Available now at Joe’s etail site.
