Proenza Schouler is offering a collection of “Bright,” unisex rope bracelets. Opening Ceremony put these up yesterday, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile the Proenza Schouler runway show is tomorrow and this may be very New York City-ish centric, but there’s this bit of a tug of a war as to who is lately grabbing more of the Downtown girls’ fickle heart–the Proenza Schouler or Alexander Wang (insert which would you rather poll here–PS-1 or Rocco).

And not that her opinion impacts this particular debate but NY Times critic Cathy Horyn is clearly not feeling Alex Wang still. After slamming his Spring collection flat out (it wasn’t his time, Cathy), this time around she said more or less his show had only a few okay pieces and that it didn’t matter anyway because he makes it up as he goes along because what you see on the runway is not what you see at retail. Like, whatever, Alex! But then she very criptically made a comment about designer Daryl K, and how her clothes are great, but somehow she doesn’t have the same success as Alex & co. (could it be she had kids and was semi-retired and dealing with the near death of her label for a hot minute??) Anyway, more of those “Bright” bracelets on the next page.

It’s the NY Fashion Week show that’s stolen everyone’s hearts–even the icy ones belonging to the fashion world–the Moncler “Flash Mob” show, set to a dance routine and staged at the goregous and much-loved by New Yorkers, Grand Central Station. How these guys pulled off the permits to put the show on there–phew….impressive!! Via FC.

As we continue our march down the fashion memory lane of the ’90s, it’s safe to say it’s out with real fur (except as a trim) and in with nylon military-inspired parkas or bombers. Our fave examples thus far come from Altuzarra, shown here and after the flip. Via.

Alexander Wang’s love affair with metallic shine continues with his Autum 2011 collection, started as it did with the apricot lame strips that he showed on bottoms for Spring 2011 . In this post we focus on his shoes and accessories for as much as Downtown girlies lust for every iota of his collections, it’s his shoes and especially his bags that they will murder to own. As bags size down, Wang makes his practically miniature with the two shown above the biggest of the bunch. Both are adorable, but it’s the mini-foxtails that make them next level and 100 percent covetable. On the next page, see his fur sunglasses, caped-crusader (or mudflat) sandals and some open-toe quilted boots that you will either love or despise, no in between. And there’s also a pic of Wang himself, flaunting his shiny locks and looking very much like the Downtown sneaker head we hear he is.  Via.

Bijules designer Jules Kim revealed her latest jewellery offerings at a party titled “The Seize Kind,” held at the ultra-plush Gramercy Park Hotel on Friday evening. Waiters displayed her offerings on trays (which one lamp-shaded party attendee was incensed to discover she couldn’t sample!) and like fashion has shifted to brighter dreams so, too, have accessories, as reflected by Kim’s designs–ever original, yet more twinkly and lighter this time around. In the image taken at the event above, that’s galatic beauty Kim on the left, with her down-to-earth-gorgeous friend and design partner (they worked on  the swimsuit line Nyked together), Lorenzo Martone.

Agent Provocateur had a party last night celebrating its new Madison Avenue location, replete with a bevvy of scantily-clad models (with lots of admiring male eyes) dancing the night away both  in the store and the street-facing windows. The theme was retro naughty (think Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!) with some of the girls dressed with a cowgirl theme, including a holster armed with a banana. We heard through one of the salesgirls in attendance that the store has been very well received by the neighborhood–it opened in January–and has been packed with shoppers seeking the U.K.-based label’s gorgeous lace and satin lingerie, plus all the accoutrements, like sequin pasties, crop whips and body jewellery.
