Tmagazine covers Thakoon’s pre-Autumn collection and especially likes the coordinated pants suit featured here. On the item, the designer comments, “I wanted to do old-school, over-the-top matchy-matchy.” It’s a statement that warms my heart to no end as I have always been a fan of coordinated looks (even when it’s as extreme as couples wearing matching sweatsuits–’member when that was hot??) and it’s fun to know that perhaps a new era is being ushered in for the trend.

All Saints opened their second New York location last night with  a music-filled celebration that had us dancing until they turned the lights on. Florence and the Machine’s DJ set won me over. Other highlights were of course the stylish crowd (matching  shoes and hose above =  fierce) and lo and behold, an appearance by the one and only Camilla Skovgaard! (I shamelessly became a groupie, btw.)  While the party was fun, the Meatpacking district as a location I see as a hit,  because it much more reflects the brand’s lux edgy chic aesthetic. On  the next page a closer look at the festivities and attendees.

It does not happen too often that Nike presents some special and exclusive for women. Well, today is the day. We present the Spring 2011 Nike Women’s Premium Print Pack.

“Who said a picture was worth a thousand words? Consider a shoe. The minimalist and classic design aesthetic does the talking, but it’s the recycled magazines that help tell the story for this Nike Sportswear Women’s Premium Print Pack. The Nike Flash Macro Premium (sail/birch), Nike Blazer Mid Premium (sail/khaki) and Nike Air Rift Premium (sail/sport red) all feature recycled magazines that have been stitched together to create a one-of-a-kind pattern on each shoe.

Function was not compromised with this project. The surface has been treated with a transparent material for resistance and durability. Each shoe in the pack will be sold separately and debut in limited quantities within the Nike Sportswear Spring 2011 collection beginning January 1 in Europe, China and select emerging markets.”

Louis Vuitton with the assistance of Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley recently held a trunk show highlighting the cruise collection at the brand’s Atlanta location. The major ladylike theme for this collection is not news, though as we’ve mentioned before, the fashion is really just a backdrop for the bags, which very much make up the lion’s share of LV’s sales. It’s a reality that popped up a bit today when NewYork magazine dug through its archives for a 2008 quote from Carine Roitfeld, part of which hinted she would eventually step down from her job as editor, “Right now I think that fashion in the world becomes a bit boring. There is so much money, and I feel a bit when you go to shows they want to sell so many handbags, and for me, well, I do not like handbags. I do not wear handbags. “Fashion Maniac,” Anna Dello Russo, gives us a 2010 “Best Dressed” list we can nod our heads in agreement with. No surprise, it’s topped by Carine Roitfeld (shown above–Del Russo currently is framing all her images with a festive holiday border), who let it be known today that she is departing as editor of French Vogue. Others on the list we very much agree with include Daphne Guinness, Michelle Obama and Rihanna.

Burberry has hit the nail again on the head again for Autumn by expending on the boots that made us all weak in the knees this past fall. On the next page seee more boots and bags via WWD.

Sailor Jerry is a brand we know honestly because of their rhum, however, the label has been working hard lately to establish themselves as a lifestyle brand anchored on the originating tattoo artist, Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. Looks like the very much admired Carine Roitfeld is leaving her post as editor of French Vogue, which she has held for over nine years. She is leaving to pursue personal projects in the next few weeks, according to WWD……so let the speculation and anonymous source rumor mongering begin! As for us Snobs–at least for the near term–we will miss her kick-ass style presence on the fashion circuit, as well as her incredible editorial vision and hope she doesn’t stay out of the limelight long.
