AttilaDesignBag1 Attila Design Lily Treebark Bag

Tiina Anttila, the “deep in the forrest” Finish designer behind the Etsy store Attila Design is a bit of Renaissance woman. She handmade this gorgeous leather bag, designed to look like tree bark, featuring “recycled elm handles from the Central Park by the sea side in Helsinki,” and on the next page, you’ll find not just exquisite dresses and accessories, but also an “Under The Apple Tree” bed canopy, a “Full Moon” chair and a “Scandinavian Deer” wall sculpture. And btw, she also does some set design and backdrop painting, too!

RihannaPerfume Rihannas Rebl Fleur Perfume Packaging

Here’s the packaging for Rihanna’s first perfume, Reb’l Fleur. For those who want to purchase it for more than just the illustration of a red-haired Rihanna, here’s the description:

“The fragrance is an intense and daring fruity chypre, composed of sophisticated floral notes: tuberose, violet and hibiscus with a splash of coconut water over the light and smooth base, the combination of the final notes evokes the impression of warm skin.”

An image of the bottle on the next page.

UPDATE: Apparently this is just the packaging, not it as it appears in any store. The internets are saying it will launch early next year. Read more

Fendi Gets Bag Loving From Allure & Vogue

Fendi2 Fendi Gets Bag Loving From Allure & Vogue

In a placement that must have the execs fist-pumping, Fendi bags were highlighted in full-page spreads for the January 2011 issues of both Allure and Vogue. Allure used its Fendi photo as the lead into a great-looking editorial on the rising trend of front-flap bags, and Vogue’s “Last Look” piece, which features the brand’s “Silvano” bag, referenced the 1974 film Gruppo Di Famiglia In Un Interno, a film that features actress Silvana Mangano, whose character wears lots of Fendi. Different approaches but both articles are heralding the return of a retro shape, which also fits right in with the move to smaller bags. See the Allure editorial on the next page. (Loving the Alexander Wang version like crazy!)

LVMH Further Enrages Hermes With More Share Buys

LVMH Further Enrages Hermes With More Share Buys

Again, no one can blame LVMH for getting in on the Hermes deal, but the folks at Hermes have to be steaming that in the days leading up to Christmas–when most people are taking a break from committing predatory business acts, LVMH sneak attacks and scoops up some more shares, bringing its total to 20.21 percent, up from 17.1. According to WSJ:

“LVMH also reiterated that it doesn’t plan at this time to seek the nomination of a representative to the Hermes board of supervisors, and that it doesn’t envisage taking control of Hermes or making a public offer for its shares.”

Key words….”at this time.” Above image: Hermes Garden Party bag, available for purchase at Hermes for $2,600.

Tommy Ton Best-Dressed 2010 List

Tommy Ton Best Dressed 2010 List

One of the fashion world’s best known street photographers, Tommy Ton, has chosen his favorite style stars from the year 2010 for Style.com. Glamour.com editor Susan Cernek (featured above) is one of his picks. Figuring out the politics of this list is a bit tough because Style is now under the Fairchild ownership umbrella, which makes it less directly connected to Conde Nast though they’re both still owned by the same parent company. The editors on Ton’s list are mostly Conde Nast (including Cernek), but a couple of outsiders–one from Marie Claire and the other from Pop–do get mentions. However, two are prominently missing, soon-to-be-former-editor of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, which is baffling, and Elle’s Kate Lanphear, who has almost goddess status among most street photographers, including Ton. Given Elle is Vogue’s main competitor her absence makes one wonder…. See the rest at Style.
