Nor Black  Nor White takes a simple yet modern approach to clothing that even my super-conceptual, avant-garde-drawn self can appreciate.  Anchored on traditonal Indian craftsmanship, two young women, Amrit Kumar and Mriga Kapadiya, took on the task each season of highlighting a particular Indian region’s styles and construction techniques. As a way to blend their Canadian (woohoo!) and Indian  roots the  collections  provide the kind of clothing we would all love to own. Made in small quantities, this line provides the luxury of illustrating traditions of fabric dying known as “bandhani khatri,” plus beading and embroidery from the Kachchh Gujarat region. The opening look, a striking white dress sums up the the tone of womanly sexiness we gladly welcome for Spring 2011.Youth is appealing, observing the latest junior trends as they are created on the street is the stuff we live for. However, there’s a unique appeal to individual style that can only be cultivated with time. Case in point, Carine Roitfeld. Note to self ,I need a Versace dress!

Refinery revealed some images of Nyked’s Spring 2011 line, a collaborative effort between what might be the best-looking designer combo in all the land, Lorenzo Martone and the much-adored by HighSnobette, Jules Kim of Bijules. And it sounds like this newbie line, whose first lookbook we posted in June, is doing well–it’s soon to be carried by both Saks and Shopbop!

French brand A.P.C. is collaborating with swimwear brand Tooshie on a collection of bikinis, Nothing to pop your eyes out, but classic and smooth much how A.P.C. consistently is.

A lot of our favorite sites have put together their favorites from the year 2010 and we’ve rounded up the ones we enjoyed the most, generally because we mostly agree though the difference of opinion  is sometimes the funnest part!

Refinery likes lists and did a great one on “Best Fashion Ads” and a worthy one of “Best And Worst Dressed Celebs.” The celebs it chose wouldn’t be our picks, but it opened our eyes to some actresses we normally don’t watch, but now will.

We like MTVstyle because we share  an interest in the intersection of music and fashion and we agreed with just about everything on its “Best Bags & Accessories List.” It also did a “Most Memorable Shoes,” which was equally delish.  And while she annoys on occassion with her antics (bare ass anyone?), MTVstyle’s “Lady Gaga’s Top Looks” reminds that she is a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Us Snobettes may seem all about the superficial but our day jobs are dedicated to the business side of fashion, thus our love affair with BOF’s “Top 10 Articles For 2010.” and on that note we also like BNET’s “Ten Biggest Fashion Faux Pas In 2010.” Though nothing on GAP’s failed logo change?

We’ve already covered the political maneuvering in “Tommy Ton’s 2010 Best-Dressed List,” but no matter it’s still a great list and the photos, natch, are great to look at.  As an employee of the same company as Ton, Anna Del Russo’s “Ten Best Dressed Of The Year,” picks had the potential to be just as political but she deftly sidestepped the issue by focusing on celebs, who make us feel like we’re curled up in front of a fire, drinking hot cocoa as we nod our head in agreement with her.

And where would a blog that used to be called Chickswithkicks be without a list devoted to sneakers?? In a lot more foot pain that’s for sure. As such, we bring you Sneakerfreaker’s “Best Of The Best 2010,” with a double woot-woot for all the ladies who had a say on the list and especially MadeMe’s inclusion by Acclaim magazine’s Alex Weiland (see image above)!

Gucci gets bonus points for hitting just about every fashion trend sure to be key in 2011: trousers, womanly dresses, knee-high suede boots, front-flap bags and in fabrics, khaki, velvet, silk and fur. This is a look that suits the brand so maybe there is a good 2011 in store for this Italian luxury brand that projected itself as a bit out of sorts in 2010. Via WWD. More looks on the next page.
