The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston  celebrates  their acquisition 100 pieces  of  the designer Arnold Scaasi  with a glorious exhibit. Arnold Scaasi, who began his business in New York in the mid-1950s was one of the few New York designers to concentrate on custom-made clothing rather than ready-to-wear. “Scaasi: American Couturier” explores the designer’s relationship with his clients and how the garments created for them suited their lifestyles and helped them to establish a strong public image, whether it was the youthful sophistication of Barbra Streisand, the fashionable and always appropriately dressed first lady Mamie Eisenhower, or the extraordinarily beautiful and feminine Elizabeth Taylor. The exhibition will feature several garments made for his most famous client, Barbra Streisand, including the custom-made and now infamous black sequined pantsuit that, under the lights of the Oscar stage, appeared see-through. Also on display will be clothing worn by Arlene Francis, Mrs. Joseph Norban (whose husband was a part owner of the famed nightclub El Morocco), and Mrs. Saul Steinberg, one of New York’s most photographed women during the 1980s and 1990s. Artfully done, nudie calendars appear to be a bit of a rising trend with design-centric, Brooklyn-based furniture company Ruckercorp adding its version for 2011. I fell in love with the Burberry shearling boots  this fall and have seen other brands try to imitate their fabulousness and of course fall short. This flat version is perfection. Oh  the comfiness. Via Pixiemarket.

No Doubt, led by Gwen Stefani, all wore Prada for the Kennedy Center Honors event, held in D.C. this past weekend. According to Justjared, the group performed a Beatles medley, a tribute to Paul McCartney, who was a guest of honor at the event. One more of just Gwen after the flip.

In a super cute video of the song “Do!Do!Do” by Carte Blanche, vocals are performed by Kid Sister (who is clearly still getting her nails did!), with direction by Fafi and artist Yue, watch Kid Sister as she is transformed into a trouble-making Fafinette, who springs to life and runs rampant through Youtube. Very fun and original!

Tory Burch, whose shoes and bags are always high on the Snobette fave list, receives more mixed reviews when it comes to her clothes. Influenced by a combination of bohemia and high society, we always like her more when the hippies win the design battle in her head, as it appears they did for her pre-Autumn 2011 collection.
