NKELT4 Nike X (I)D Ruby Red Sneakers

Designer Lauren Tennenbaum of (In)DecorousTaste fame, was contacted by Nike to rebuild a pair of running shoes with a skies the limit ceiling on creativity and out-there-ness. The result you see here….a tribute as it turns out to Dorothy from “Wizard Of Oz” and the imagined conclusion that she would have fared better in footwear more nimble than a pair of pumps. Pretty fantastic if you ask me. Via Sneakernews. A image of the kicks before Tennenbaum took a knife to them, plus more shots of the finished version after the flip.

  5. [...] What you see before you are clearly not your average Nike sneakers. When Nike asked designer Lauren Tennenbaum to imagine a pair as she wished, she went “Wizard of Oz”-style on the kicks and created a ruby slipper-esque pair with a sky-high platform. While we think these kicks are kind of ridiculous, we still feel our inner child squeal with glee. (C’mon … didn’t you at one point have some sparkly red shoes or at least wish for them?) What do you think of these sequin-happy shoes? Awesome or insane? [High Snobette] [...]
