Via blogger Mayzingmerique, we get a very exciting sneak peak of Chanel’s “it” color for Summer 2011, “Mimosa,” which the author describes as “a shimmery bright yellow.”
After dissing the instantaneous nature of internet fashion non-stop, we get the first glimpses of Tom Ford’s much-buzzed about Spring 2011 women’s collection, you guessed it, on Vogue’s website. The funnier still part is that the article spends its first two paragraphs reitering that theme and then revisits it again in a third paragraph! But oh well, Ford is doing his best to create exclusivity and perhaps stumbling a bit along the way (or rather Vogue is not realizing it too has a web presence!). As for the clothes, they’re quite glamorous and true to Ford’s love affair with the ’70s, but it’s tough to get a real feel for the collection from just these shots.
Here by the way is a list of the models who appeared in his show: Lauren Hutton, Liya Kebede, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Feinstein, Lisa Eisner, Beyoncé Knowles, Marisa Berenson, Stella Tennant, Amber Valletta, Natalia Vodianova,Karen Elson, Lakshmi Menon, Karlie Kloss, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Rita Wilson and Julianne Moore. Fashionising’s Daniel Dykes posts up images of Kate Moss photographed by Juergen Teller for Self Service magazine. The conceit of the editorial is that the images of her are not photoshopped. That being said, they’re still shot by an amazing tallent, plus overexposed, which we all know does marvels when it comes to hiding imperfections. It doesn’t matter though, she’s still amazingly beautiful, as are all models with or without their makeup, a fact which seems to piss people off beyond belief. Dykes himself had some interesting things to say on the topic, which is worth a read, but here’s an excerpt in the meantime.
“….the role of Photoshop in the fashion industry often attracts the most amount of derision. When I last touched on that very issue the model who brought it into focus was Kate Moss. Moss had just been revealed as the face of Valisere Lingerie’s 2010 campaign, and it was a heavily photoshopped face. Though Photoshop had clearly been liberally applied I refued to attack its use, the debate pointless. After all, it’s my firm belief that we the consumer want Photoshop to be used – the alternative is an advertising and fiction-based landscape filled with less-than-perfect people, and reality provides us enough of that.”
It’s true. Fantasy is such an important element of fashion and how much we revel in it only differs by degree. More images from the shoot on the next page.
U.S. Vogue’s (I presume) December issue has a “Best-Dressed” supplement with Blake Lively featured on the cover. Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady GaGa, Sienna Miller and Jessical Biel are also mentioned on the front page. It’s hard to find words to go with such a seemingly random not too mention bland list, but that is U.S. Vogue for you–something like the oldest sibling who takes it upon herself to uphold the family pillars of dignity and tradition (a role, by the way, no one asked her to take on). Meahwhile the younger sisters are the fun ones who get to rebel and have a good ole time.

Get a rare chance to see the steel portion of the steel magnolia that is Beyonce in over 15 minutes of behind-the-scenes looks from her VMA rehearsals for “Ring The Alarm.” As she neatly sums it all up at one point in the clip, “I don’t do scared.” Aint that the truth! –Necolebitchie
Probably more appropriate for warmer weather the “Alex Fringe Mini” bag has me swooning with its extra long fringe details. It’s that lux bohoemian chic that Gypset painted so well. Available at Linea Pelle , take another look on the flip.
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Los Angeles Annual Gala celebrates a convergence of art, design, architecture, fashion, music, and performance, and this year it was sponsored in part by Chanel. While there were plenty of celebs in attendance, if you look at the more candid Wire Image shots, you get a sense that the event was a bit of a bore, with no shortage of people staring off into space or looking disinterested in whomever they’re chatting with. Chloe is featured here, ever loyal to her East Village don’t-give-an-eff soul (which is why we love her), she wears minimal makeup and chose a white pants suit while just about every other woman in attendance wore a formal dress. Next page Gwen Stefani, Athony Kiedis, Rachel Zoe, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst and the Mulleavy sisters, who are once again working the frump card, which, given their job title, is sort of fascinating!
Floating high above the run of the mill spike jewellery that has been every where these past few seasons, the Mawi “Double Claw” bracelet manages to also be festive and oh so appropriate for the holiday season. Available at the very cool ln-cc.
