We get a glimps via Popbee of Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2011 line-up of bags. The signature skulls and ornate detailing remains, though what happens to the brand’s status sans McQueen as perceived by both retailers and customers will be interesting to watch. More after the flip.

For the American Music Awards red carpet, Nicki Minaj wore a design by Indian fashion designer Manish Arora, and when interviewed on the carpet and asked to describe what the dress would say if it could speak, she answered, “I am such a bad diva bitch!” Rap fans have been buzzing over Minaj’s recent direct-hit comments about Lil Kim, who Minaj has been reluctant to call about by name. Said Minaj in quite the rant, “I feel like, [Lil Kim is] going to go down in history now as a sore loser, as opposed to going down in history as the Queen.” Ouch!

Rihanna performed (above) last night at the American Music Awards and walked the red carpet in a lace dress by Elie Saab and shoes by Christian Louboutin. Just when we started to get a feel for her stick straight hair, she switched it up again and last night sported burgundy curls, which were color-coordinated with her nails and dresss–phew! We get a clip from Beyonce’s hour-long “I Am World Tour” tv special, this one featuring her performing “Say My Name,” which was pieced together from a variety of cities during her world tour. ABC will air the 90-minute film at 9:30 on Thanksgiving night. If you fall asleep while watching it due to excessive stuffing, it will also be available in DVD.  Another clip after the flip.

The Bamboo Bike Studio, located in in Brooklyn and San Francisco, are offering two-day workshops to help people build their own bamboo bicycles. The next one in Brooklyn is December 4th and 5th, and in San Francisco, November 27th and 28th. For $632 you get a bamboo frame and for $948 you get all the components you need to make it ride.

Perhaps inspired by or in tribute to its collaboration with its first female, Vashtie, from earlier this year, Jordan is offering the Jordan 1 “Daybreak.”  The purple-ish hue isn’t the same, but comes from the same family as Vashtie’s Jordan “Lavendar” from earlier this year. Yesterday in Shanghai marked the opening of World Jewellery Facets by Swarovski Elements, with several designers  exhibiting awe-worthy crystal apparel and accessories. On the next page a closer look at Spain’s Jose Miro, who created two pieces. The “Nano” (above)  made of 10,000 crystals, is designed to mimic the neural connection and inspired by the words of  Buddha: “All that we are is the result of what we think, shapes and lines design recreate neurons and the connection between them.”   The second work, “Empress,” inspired by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria,  consists of 30,000 units.
