Titled “Flamingos,” the Autumn/Winter 2010 Cneeon collection  is inspired by the hues of Fragonard paintings. Subtle colors that blend into each other to create  a very ethereal  assortment. As a  a fan of Cneeon, this collection, however, fails to capture my attention. I get a glimpse of a cool piece here and there but overall, I’m left wanting more. Zeit Magazin recently turned 40 and to celebrate this momentous occasion, it opted for 40 different covers featuring one of the original supermodels – Claudia Schiffer, who coincidentally also happens to be 40 years old. The covers range from ’70s British mod chick to new-wave Claudia to hippie Claudia.  Best start collecting them all now as they are a feast for the eyes. In my heart of hearts I really aspire to the sleek minimalist discipline illustrated by the  the likes of a Jil Sander,  Matthew Ames or even Ann Demeulemeester. However, being from the islands (we can be a little flashy) added to an obsession with Bollywood and a slight bohemiamian inclination, I find myself   drawn to the more is more camp. Domingo Ayala Jewellery exemplifies this accessory philosophy as his pieces look better piled on.  As you’ll see  on the next page, one necklace, at  least in my mind, is really not enough.

Hennesy closed their Artistry series last night with  an art exhibit and concert that took place at Cipriani Wall Street.  As announced, the Roots, Q-tip, Mike Posner and DJ Dnice took the stage, but then it was  Eve, Ron Isley, Erykah Badu, Bobby Brown and Mary J. Blige!  Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised. Festive energy, stylish crowd, and let’s not forget plenty to drink. October is GLTB history month and Swedish Hasbeens desingers Cilla Wingard and Emy Bixt have designed a hand-made, rainbow-striped (one also in black and white) knee-high boot in honor of the event. Kicking ourselves for not being able to slot the launch of the Vans X MadeMe shoe collabo into our schedules, but ahh well, that is neither here nor there.
