Assatasays hosted a  Fall glam party a few week ago with polish Polish Bar  of Brooklyn, a quaint nail place nestled on Vanderbilt Avenue in Brooklyn. Their specialty is  natural nails with services like the famed Minx as well as a gel color manicure, waxing etc . On the next page a closer look at the little shinding.

Skater, video documentor of life and all around appealing person, Levi Maestro got together with her Downtown dopeness, Vas$htie, as part of his “Maestro Knows” show with the purpose of introducing her recently launched Jordan collabos to the world. Thoroughly adorable and a nice capture of the more charming aspects of life in New York City. Via Highsnobiety.

On the heels of its first-time collabo with a female, that being Vashtie, Jordan is showing previews of some more product for the ladies that will rollout during the holidays. And I have to say, of all the many pairs of kicks I have owned, it’s hard to belive I’ve never owned a pair of this colossal brand. One of these days that has to change. Should have guessed when Opening Ceremony had all sorts of up-close-and-personal access to Rodarte’s Spring runway show that something was in the works. The collaboration between the label and the retailer will include women’s wear, shoes, handbags, eyewear and hosiery as well as men’s wear. And here’s a fun fact, according to WWD, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony and Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte share not just a good eye for fashion but also attendance at University of California, Berkeley. Nail Rock is yet another company (a month or so back we wrote about Nail Fraud at Urban Outiftters) coming for Minx nails, who is responsible for igniting this iteraton of the foil nail trend. Granted all the hipper nail salons carry Minx and will probably continue to do so, but given Minx’s cost and its rep for not being so easy to work with, it definitely needs to watch its back or at least step up its game. Longtime muse of Karl Lagerfeld, Ines de la Fressange (image via FB), will take the runway for Chanel when the label shows on October 5th. According to WWD, she will also appear in Spring ad campaigns, along with Stella Tennant and Freja Beha Erichsen. It’s always good to see designers show a more open-minded runway. While designers are allowed to choose whichever models they like to wear their clothes, I’m also free to conclude that those who populate their runways with women who all look very much alike are disappointingly not very creative in terms of their views on what constitues beauty. Presentation is part of an overall package, after all.

This video for Gareth Pugh’s  Spring  2011 collection  apparently questions the necessity of fashion shows? While  we’re in awe of the direction of Ruth Hogben, the bananas soundtrack, and the fact  that a film artistically conveys the mood of a collection  flawlessly, the truth is, reality is flawed and clothes are meant to be sold and worn. There is nothing like seeing the pieces move, feeling the texture etc.  A combination of the two would be ideal,  plus, considering the time it takes to put a collection together a five-to-eight-minute show rarely does it justice. Enjoy a few of my many faves from this  amazing collection on the flip.
