Chicks On Speed ‘Don’t Art Fashion, Music’ Book
Definitely one to own, the second book by Chicks on Speed members Melissa Logan and Alex Murray-Leslie, focuses on a collection of what they call self-made “Objekt instruments,” which act simultaneously as machine/instrument/sculpture, and fashionable technology, the logical result of their experiment to blur the lines between art, fashion and music, using technology as glue.
Instead of chapters the book has scenes, which contain contributions from Stewart Home, renowned English artist, filmmaker, and activist author of “The Assault on Culture,” Glenn Adamson, deputy head of research at the V&A, and images of the world’s first high-heeled shoe guitars (above), created in collaboration with the award-winning shoe designer Max Kibardin. The book launches on November 2nd and is published by Booth-Clibborn Editions and Dundee Contemporary Arts.
