Part of their latest autumn/winter 2010 collection is United Nude’s “Ultra-Loop” bootie ,which are of course super sculptural and anything but ordinary. Luv! Available at UN and Browns. A detailed view in the next page.
Burberry Prorsum set a worldwide trend this season with their take on the classic aviator jacket making it the seasons “if you have to own just one piece of key clothing it’s this.” With cheaper look-a-like versions (Burberrys at $2,995) popping up in all High Street stores you know you have hit the trendsetting nail on the head. With their Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection they have brought the classic motorcycle jacket out from it’s dusty closet, breathing life back into the iconic garment, made infamous by the likes of James Dean and Marlon Brando by teaming it up with classic, feminine shapes. The sharp contrast of the tough biker jacket and the soft, flowing dress and accessories will make this a 2011 trend that everyone will be adhering to. Images from Wwd. AK.
Jas MB has stayed true to making leather accessories that transcend fads and trends and because of their buttery texture and design, get better and better with time. Spring 2011 sees the introduction of hidden hardware, like the chains on the bag above, which add a cool minimalist touch. On the next page a few of our faves.
Cornelia Webb won us over with her amazing “Dressed” jewellery collection which takes the body jewellery trend we’ve seen into stunningly sexy extremes. From arm chains to shoulder chains and garter chains, I kind of lost my breath looking at the collection. A rare instance where getting all chained up is actually appealing. See what the fuss is all about on the next page. Images courtesy of Cornelia Webb.
Enjoy a look at the latest b.Store women’s collection film directed by Ivana Bobic and Rain Lin. Titled “Leaving Dreamland,” the film takes a nostalgic look at Los Angeles with crisp apparel shots that illustrate how fashion film can be a beautiful medium for capturing the mood of a collection. Enjoy!
There are a slew of trade shows going on in New York City right now and yesterday we stopped by Capsule, which highlights up-and-coming brands with an edge, a look which is right up our alley. First stop was A Peace Treaty, who we love and whose scarves we have featured repeatedly. What you’re looking at on this page is its second jewellery collection and it couldn’t be more pitch perfect for right now…the right balance of exotic, earthy and yet still very fierce. Extreme luv, needless to say. More images of necklaces and bracelets after the flip.
For all those who are not aware of who Vashtie is or what she does I’m sure you recognize her face. She is an all round creative who has worked with people like Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco. Better know for her directing skills, Vashtie has made her way into the fashion industry with her brand, Violette, and has been honored with being the first female to ever design a Jordan. Her signature Violet touch has been used as the colorway for the Air Jordan 2 which I’m sure will be a collectors items. So ladies and gents get queuing around the block for these exclusive joints. Release date Ocotber 2. Images from Kicksonfire via Vashtie. More on the flip. AK.
Mulberrys Spring 2011 bags are amazing, and the “Tillie” bag is no exception! It’s made from supple calf leather and embossed with snake print, and looks more like a modern day satchel. I for one wouldn’t mind going to college with this in tow, but I think I’d leave the heavy books in my arms rather than weigh down this beauty! ZJK.
I could not ignore the huge hole that is missing at London Fashion Week and that is Alexander McQueen. Even though McQueen had not attended London Fashion Week since 2001, knowing that he would never design another collection is truly a huge loss for the creative industry. Stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Anna Wintour and Bjork (who also performed) paid a special tribute to McQueen at a special one hour ceremony at St.Pauls Cathedral, London. I think the video tribute sums up the awe-inspiring, determined, outlandish genius that was McQueen. AK.
This is the third edition from fashion icon Diane Pernet, presenting A Shaded View On Fashion Film 2010 (ASVOFF), an international film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty. I half expected to see Lady Gaga in one of the scenes! (Thank God she isn’t!) Held at the Centre Pompidou Paris, entrance is free and it is sure to be an amazing event! It’s on for three days from September 24-26, and features works from Mike Figgis, Tilda Swinton, Bryce Dallas Howard, Lou Doillon, the Quay Brothers, Steven Klein, Glen Luchford and Rain Li to name a few.
