TempTattoos Betsey Johnson Charm Body Tattoos

Interesting timing for Betsey Johnson to  publicize her jewellery tattoos, which, unlike the Dereon ones  we mentioned earlier there is no waiting list for. Personally,  if I had to go for that look I’d  go for some  Mehndi designs, then again there is the instant gratification  the temporary tattoo provides, right?

Shu Uemura Teased-Out Pony Tails

ShuUemura Shu Uemura Teased Out Pony Tails

In what is now an official trend for my posts today–the art of contrast–haircare line Shu Uemura Art of Hair were responsible for the sleek/frizzy pony tails shown here for Andy & Debb’s New York Fashion Week runway show. It’s neat because it’s so simple but it also reminds me of what is pretty much an everyday style for a lot of New York City’s Latinas, whose super slicked-back hair that lets loose and does its things post hairband has always been a great, distinct look. Prada Spring 2011 Runway Video

Prada is one of those brands that doesn’t necessarily reveal itself on the runway. It best trends to emerge with the season. Still, the show seemed to get better as it went on, in part because the emergence of minimalist looks, which is looking like a Spring 2011 trend of some import, is really sticking in my throat.

DD1 Introducing: Dusen Dusen

The wider accessability of fabric design programs is going to add some some spark to fashion in coming seasons. Case in point, while visiting New York’s Capsule trade show last week, new, Brooklyn-based designer Ellen Van-Dusen for Dusen Dusen caught our eye with her digitally- and hand-drawn-designs, which she applied to cotton and silk fabrics for some fun results. Her popular bags are featured above, but click to the other side for her Spring 2011 cotton shorts, plus some silk crop tops and tunics featuring a shark print.

prada ss2011 accessories

Miuccia Prada season after season shows  us how much of a boss she is when it comes to leading the way. Without fail there are  always hints of Prada that hit mass market. It will be interesting to see the brands who pick up on the stripes, canvas satchels, raffia footwear etc. she showed for Spring 2011. That cute little green strapless flower and striped dress we will see for sure!  We have the spring boot, looks like there will be such a thing as spring fur? Some of our faves on the flip, lots more via Style.

The concept of combining high and low (Lou-B shoes worn with dollar-store wife beaters) in fashion is also a materials story, with designers like Mesi Jilly taking delight in mixing high-end stones like the topaz here with considerably more down market materials like sea shells. The results are a pure eye-catching delight. Via Kirnazabete.

beyonce02 Beyonce For Dereon Tattoos!

Taking cues from the  latest obsession created by temporary tattoos Beyonce signs a deal with Temptu for a collection of tattoos. Wwd reports:

With a sixties-pinup-girl meets-futuristic-biker-chick theme, Beyoncé and I really wanted to give our Deréon fall 2010 campaign a tough edginess,” said Tina Knowles, Deréon’s founder, creative director and designer. “We decided to invite Temptu to help us create custom body art for her to model with our fashions. The resulting images were so strong that we realized consumers might want to re-create the tattoos themselves.” The tattoos are due on Nov. 1, and are available in both deluxe and basic packages. Designs include Deréon’s signature fleur icon, rocker bolts and chains, jewel baubles and spider designs. All are waterproof and designed to last for two to five days. The basic kits retail for $16 and will be available at Sephora stores in the U.S. and Canada, Sephora.com, Temptu.com and Dereon.com. The deluxe edition, $34 and limited to 500 pieces, will be available only on Temptu.com and Dereon.com. A waiting list is being taken here. Industry sources estimate the line could do upward of $200,000 at wholesale.”
