Jeremy Scott Spring 2011

 Jeremy Scott Spring 2011

We’ve said it before of Jeremy Scott’s collabos with Adidas that he’s at a phase where he’s designing without fear. Does.not.give.an.eff. Case in point his Spring 2011 collection. It seriously looks like he thought it up while on a mid-morning pcp-sprinkled cigarette break. And thank jeezus for that! If I had to see one more Marc-Jacobs-influenced (probably all thanks to Marc mourning his breakup with Lorenzo Martone–thanks for that Lorenzo!) collection featuring full-high-waisted skirts, ladylike blouses and 50s-inspired day and cocktail dresses I swear I was going to collapse in a sobbing heap! The men’s-tightie-whitie-influenced tap pants and the straight-jacket wedding dress finale? Perfection in a weird dream. Images via WWD. See all of them after the flip.

AWVmag4 Alex Wang Backstage Close ups\

V magazine has some nice, big, crisp shots from backstage before Alex Wang’s runway show. And even though this is like, oh, the fourth post on his show, we’re, you know, sort of obsessed so it makes perfect sense. On the next page, close-ups on hair, shoes and those mint-colored items we have fallen for.

U.K. singer LaRoux landed the cover for the September issue of Paper magazine and is here is a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. Fun to watch because LaRoux totally has that cute girl/boy sex appeal and as an added bonus the background for the shoot is an acoustic version of her big hit, “Bulletproof.”

The Cool Chicks: Carine, Grace & Diane

The Rodarte show yesterday pulled some of the hippest females in the game, including Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld (the boots!!!) and Grace Coddington, who hung with Diane Von Furstenberg.

Nicholas Kirkwood For Rodarte Shoes

RodarteShoes1 Nicholas Kirkwood For Rodarte Shoes

Rodarte again worked with Nicholas Kirkwood for the shoes featured in the NY Fashion week runway show, which took place last night. Kate and Laura Mulleavy told Dazeddigital that this season’s inspiration was Northern California and the collection was about nature versus the last collection, which was “languid and soft.” Can’t say I’m a fan of all the stiff fabrics, which had the effect of styfling the mystery for which this label has become famous. It had a very upholstery-feel to me and it’s a particular fashion pet peeve of mine when designers use fabrics, prints or details (omg, like pom-poms!) that are inspired by a  living room couch. What can I say, certain worlds in my opinion are better left not colliding. That being said, the blue dresses were quite amazing. More shoe images after the flip. Via Dazeddigital.

 Pamela Love Spring/Summer 2011 Jewellery

Pamela Love is known for her outlandish, raw and edgy jewellery and she has kept up her notoriously high standards with her Spring 2011 collection. Taking inspiration from indigenous tribes of Africa and India the collection concentrates on minimalism with structure and form. Each piece is a bold statement sure to liven up any outfit as well as doubling up as a weapon (in self defence of course!) Photos by: Ryan Koopmans, via Refinery29.AK.

Exclusive: Ruthie Davis Robot Sandal Premiere!

As long time appreciators of Ruthie Davis’s bold shoe designs, we were pretty excited yesterday to hear she would premiere the “Robot,” a shoe from her Spring 2011 collection, on Dennis Basso’s runway during NY Fashion Week yesterday. The shoe features a five-inch heel with criss-crossing straps in metallic, black, bandage, nude and mint patent leathers with a touch of one of Davis’s trademarks, clear plastic. The end result: modern, forceful and feminine. An alternative color after the flip, plus images from the runway.

Introducing: Vlieger & Vandam Handbags

vlieger+ vandam

Last month you may have seen Rihanna around town with this  “Guardian Angel” bag by Vileger & Vandam . No official reason  have been given as to why they used the image of a gun but I have heard rumours from the plausible (make people aware of trising gun crime) to the ridiculous (designed with little old ladies in mind to deter would-be purse snatchers – Granny packing heat??). Whatever the reason this bag will make you look like a bad-ass chick, but just be careful you don’t wear this to the airport. You can find more deadly bags at Vliegervandam. AK.
