So far of all the fashion week shoes we’ve seen, this pair of lace-ups by Pucci are our faves. Carine Roitfeld has an oh-so-similar pair, one in grey and the other black, that she’s been wearing to all the shows. Any of you fashion geeks know who hers are by??

My first response when I saw Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2011 images from Paris Fashion Week was surprise, as in, wow, they’re going there again?? And at the prices they charge? But my opinion was mild compared to one of the industry’s fiercest critics, Cathy Horyn, whose review I just read on Racked:
“The clothes were great for showing off the models’ long bodies, and so will produce sexy photographs, but punk is now a style cliché. That Balmain is one of the most expensive labels, with a plain undershirt (without holes) costing around $450, makes the notion of a safety-pinned jacket something of a joke—and not even a very clever one.”
Some of the garments Balmain showed are obviously gorgeous and totally covetable (lush punk if you will), however, ever since the appearance on the scene of “that” tee shirt, the recipe for a backlash began to be mixed and this seemingly lazy runway was the final ingredient. How far the ripples extend from this ugly little moment is always hard to say without an inside track.
This outfit worn by Mademoiselle Agnes on her way to Balenciaga today illustrates what magazines have listed as some of the ”most wanted items” for fall. It’s interesting when you see it in real life, almost textbook 1-2-3. Via Wire.
Hermès has set up camp at the exclusive Parisian boutique Colette until October 16th. Not only will they carry a selection of pieces from their Autumn/Winter line but also will also offer Colette exclusives like the classic Brides de Gala, the patchwork scarf (all of which are unique) as well as a “I love my Hermes scarf” fanzine (even if the scarf is out of your reach you can still pick up a fanzine!). If you’re fortunate enough to live in Paris, pop in before Hermes makes its stylish exit. If you don’t, you can purchase online at Colette. Via Vogue. AK.
Aside from driving and cold weather, I rarely think of investing in gloves. Shoes and jewellery usually take my mind away most of the time when it come to accessorizing, however this new glove collection is changing my disregard. Aristide Collection, the offspring of a sixty year old French glove -maker promises to make ‘Le Gant’ live up to its full fashion potential with great details, like the mixing of leather with other textures.Very nice indeed. On the next page a closer look at their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Via neo2.
I spotted these in the Gucci window on 5th Avenue last week. They’re simple, camel suede “Audrey” pumps with a little of that trademark Gucci shine featured in the form of gold hardware on the heel. I’m a little mad because the black version really leaped out from the window display (at first I thought they were velvet–still wish they were actually) and this format just doesn’t do that color any justice. Even the camel ones don’t look all that special, but I promise they totally are!
Our last but most definitely not least designer spotted at the Capsule show is Lialia, a line designed by two sisters, Julia and Natalia Alarcon, who are new on the scene but whose work already has been recognized by WWD and Gen Art. We spoke last week about how access to computer-generated print programs is bringing excitement into fashion, but what’s neat about Lialia is the attention not just to the print, but the marrying of its earthy designs with light-as-a-feather, futuristic-feeling fabrics for a look that is thoroughly modern. The end result is a next level shift that is feminine and super smart. A couple more looks after the flip.
