We talked about a collabo between Baby G and Hellz (and M.O.B.) a while ago, and now images of the finished product are finally hitting the market. Very cute and a good look for this brand we whole-heartedly support and endorse. More info and images at HighSnobiety.

Concepts in Cambridge, Mass., is serving up some very rockstar Chuck Taylors for the ladies, one pair in metallic purple with corset lacing along the back, and the other in sequins in two different colors.

Alex Wang has big ad plans for Fall, starting with a print poster campaign featuring daughter-of-a-rock-star Zoe Kravitz and model Max Motta. Then, Wang will be joining his fashion industry peers with a video advertisement, featuring model Abbey Lee. According to Wang, “It’s very moody and seductive,” and it shows Abbey Lee “dancing and moving along.” In other words, totally par for the course for fashion vids and probably not even unintentionally funny like Chanel’s video ad featuring 17-year-old models and 50-year-old men. Look for the video to premiere on Wang’s site this Wednesday, plus WWD, French Vogue, Love and Style. Via Racked.

Like Tabatha of MTTM, where I spotted this story, I’m a big appreciator of photorealism. The idea of precisely recreating reality in a painting is so perfect to me it just makes my heart ache. Naturally I was blown away by Anna Halldin-Maule’s “A Head For Fashion,” whose theme is women and fashion and that line between love for a well made item and insanity. In a video (which you seriously should check out–as I’m pretty sure Halldin-Malle was born to be a photorealist; seriously, listening to her explain her process is like watching a cheetah run), the artist comments: 

“Women take fashion very seriously. It’s a way of living, a lifestyle. But when you take it too far it  becomes almost comical. And I wanted to show that in the paintings in a humorous way, a little bit of tongue in cheek. But to make it beautifully with the gorgeous bags and the beautiful shoes and the accessories, which I love. The reason I chose the Louis Vuitton bag is partly because it’s such a coveted item. Everyone who sees the bag knows it. But also because of the craftsmanship. It’s a beautifully-made bag. The quality is excellent. All of the stitches, the leather is perfect. It’s something I want to achieve with my paintings as well.”

There are three other paintings in the series with this one the most tame, which is another nice thing about Halldin-Malle, she has a pervyy side to her, too! And then, too, her funny quote about her inspiration, “Inspired by the work of blah, blah, blah, blah….”

We don’t usually post-up sample sale news, but seeing as this is virgin territory for M.O.B. we see it as kind of significant (as we guarantee that nothing or no one else at MTTM headquarters is a firster). Plus, it’s nice that they’re keeping it in the family and holding it in Lower-East-Side-located Alife’s backyard patio (158 Rivington Street). The sale is August 12-15 and it goes from 12Pm-7PM and everything will be up to 85 percent off. Bring cash as plastic will not be accepted.

Fashion’s Night Out, the global fashion celebration, is taking place in major cities around the world on September 10, 2010. For the occasion, Bottega Veneta  launches a special edition “Brick” bag available that night in Paris. Hopefully more brands and retailers will take the initiative and make the night more spacial with special products. Via Vogue France.

Stussy hooks up with Lee on a some denim shorts and skirts. These are via its Japanese site. This collabo isn’t doing it for me. I know Lee is a heritage brand, but there’s just no life here.

Fifteen rooms have been dedicated to a Yves Saint Laurent retrospective at the Petit Palai in Paris. The show opened in March and concludes at the end of August, but lines are very long (two hours!) and Trendland, who snapped these images, was only able to visit for the first time last week.
