The Alexander Wang accessories phenomenon is alive and well as this young label has been able to capture the elements of  the most wanted in fashion that is usually seen in brands with a much longer history. If we go down the history of “it” bags on a global scale, I cannot think of one  independent high end accessories  label  that has achieved such rapid commercial appeal as Wang.  The closest I can come to would be Kate Spade’s nylon totes  in the 90s ? Staged on a real dock, Henrik Vibskov’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection is witty and  inventive as usual but this time we see a little more subtle styling. Via styleclicker.

Over at designer Erin Magee’s MadeMe site, we’re catching a sneak preview of the Autumn collection, which we’ll get a full view of August 31st. According to the site, it will feature (from left to right in the above image) Kim Ann Foxman (Hercules and Love Affair), Victoria Brito (long time MadeMe muse), Lady Miss Kier (of Dee-Lite), Nicole & Natalie (Nina Sky), and Maluca Mala, all of whom must have made for a very fun shoot!

Illustrator Francis Kmiecik of Halfanese blog fame has been obsessed with women and bicycles as of late. This video called “Girl Sitting on Wall“ isn’t his newest but on his current front page, it’s definitely the neatest. In the caption he wrote, “Working on some animations with very subtle movements.” Indeed.

Reflecting the trend toward outdoor looks, Vans takes detail-inspiration from hiker boots and marries it with its classic vulcanized bottom for a look that’s fresh, fun and functional (fleece lined). Love the purple laces against the black suede. Calleen Cordero  has been designing her namesake collection of vegetable tanned leather accessories for over a decade. Hand-molded  leather  soles made in California, the latest season sees the continuation of sleek studding  with an earthy bohemian feel. Some of the components: alder wood (SFR Sustainable Forest), birch plywood (recycled wood),solid brass, nickel, vegetable dye, Italian leathers, semi precious stones and yellow glue (90% non toxic and 98% decomposable). From Cadmus we get a peek of Wrangler’s Autumn/Winter lookbook. Nothing exactly to set the world on fire; Levi’s has been there and perhaps done it better. Still, I’m thinking Wranglers could still get it. For heritage denim brands, Lee not so much, but there’s something about the Wrangler that has a sort of Pabst Blue Ribbon appeal to it.
