Hermes Autumn/Winter 2009 via Style

With the aggressive  presence of fur this coming winter, the issue of head wear comes to mind. We have seen several versions of the knitted hat, the fedoras  and the more than popular trapper hat a few seasons ago. The people at Oak, who may have been inspired by Hermes’ Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, recently  issued  a slick  leather aviator hat that we think can become an interesting choice. Lingerie is getting good again as designers experiment with new geometric cuts  outs and straps, giving the girls a chance to let loose a little and slowly but surely busting the stranglehold molded cup bras have had on the category for far too long. This very revealing “Desir Intense” (intense desire) half-cup bra by Lise Charmel is a nice example. If you can take your eyes off the models cleavage, check out the double lace back straps. Through her Violette clothing label, New York-based designer Vashtie Kola just issued some very limited “Funbag” tee-shirts designed to assuge every female’s breast envy. Whether a desire for a great big bountiful rack or a less cumbersome perky pair is on your wish list of things to possess, you can have them at least for as long as the tee stays clean! As we were given a peek a few week ago, we now  present you a full look at MadeMe’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection  look book. As quintessentially New York as it gets with  use of the color black, sweatshirt grey, denim,  military parkas, a peek of a high top sneaker, a military boot contrasted with a quirky love of all things vintage and unique. The collection also  pays  homage to the famed Paradise Garage,  with the “Paradise” tee , which trecreates the popular club logo with the words “MadeMe Manhattan.”On the next page a closer look at the look book featuring Lady Miss Kier, Nina Skye, Maluca Mala, Kim Ann Foxman  and Victoria Britto. Needless to say the leopard print leather stands  out  as a fave.  All available here.

If you’ve been following along, as you might imagine, these hit about an eleven on my bliss scale. You have to give Adidas and Jeremy their propers, they are going for it without an ounce of fear. Hellz’s Autumn collection shows the brand continuing to evolve, as designer Lanie flexes her growing design muscle with exaggerated shoulders and ruffles, while keeping her roots firmly planted in the street via unexpected trims, details and cuts (see the leggings on the next page). The line was inspired by exploitation films including “Lady Snowblood” and “Thriller,” which give the line its modern-day femme fatale feel. Never shying away from her female power roots, you have to love how the collection’s name, “The Rest Is Her Story,” puts on exclamation point on what the label draws so much of its inspiration from.  Many more looks on the next page.

Australian designer Lyndel Yeo celebrated the label’s fifth birthday on the runway during Melbourne Fashion Week yesterday, showing fashion that was very much in step with her stated design goal of making looks “for the confident girls who want to be noticed.”  More super cute skirt and crop top combos after the flip.
