Opening Ceremony Blue Rabbit Fur Coat

OCFur1 Opening Ceremony Blue Rabbit Fur Coat

I’m hesitating on the fact that this coat is over-sized (I pretty much like everything half a size too small) but other than that, this blue, man-tailored rabbit fur coat is a pure delight, and one of those items you could wear into the ground, not to mention perhaps use as an impromptu mattress, blanket or pillow should you pass out someplace where beds are short.

sisleycampaign5 Sisley Fall 2010 Ad Campaign

Parisian-brand [UPDATE: A reader informs  that it is an Italian brand not French. Thank you, Sasha for the correction and for reading us!] Sisley has released its ad shots for Fall 2010, which was shot by Terry Richardson. The female model is Ashley Smith and the fella is Tyler Riggs. Say what you will about Richardson, but the soft-porn aesthetic he is known for has pretty much taken over fashion photography. Marion Cotillard For August Interview Magazine

MCInt4 Marion Cotillard For August Interview Magazine

French actress Marion Cotillard’s people are working it hard for her because here she is on the cover of yet another magazine, this time Interview. Obviously it’s the big money guns behind the recently-released movie “Inception,” which she appears in, that are pulling the strings for all her publicity. Generally I’m not a fan of actresses as models, anymore than I am models as folk singers, and nope, Cotillard’s not really doing it for me in this shoot. Obviously she’s gorgeous, but just not alien enough to pull off high fashion photography.

Rihanna In Lanvin

LanvinRih2 Rihanna In Lanvin

Rihanna stepped out in Lanvin recently–love how she works the black dress with the beige shoes, which will definitely be a big look for fall. On the flip see the same dress back in April on Jennifer Lopez, who gets major diva points for her beehive updo! Both of these women share the trait of having fun with fashion, using it to make statements, express mood, and generally bring energy into every room they step into. It’s nice….like they never lost that joy that young girls get from playing dress up.

Introducing Denham ‘First Edition’ For The Ladies

It’s no secret that I’ve always had a love story with menswear. As much as the sight of a man in a well cut suit makes me weak in the knees, what I admire the most  is that, while fashion for women is almost ruled by the expansion of fast fashion, men’s  labels have retained a certain sense of heritage and craftsmanship .

I have secretly been coveting Denham Jeans  as they exemplify a niche  boutique denim category that seldom is explored on the women’s side.  Thankfully they have recently answered my prayers with  a stunning women’s  collection that stays true to their tailored aesthetic. Denham for women is not about tight and stretchy,  in their own words  “the truth is in the details.” A closer look at the exclusive  ”First Edition” jean for women on the next page. Available in Denham House shops in Amsterdam and Tokyo, Colette in Paris, Present in London, 14OZ.  in Berlin, Gerard’s Loft in Florence and Dantone in Milan.

More Nail Art Goodness From Sophy Robson

SophyLoveMag1 More Nail Art Goodness From Sophy Robson

Yesterday we showed nail art designer Sophy Robson’s feature with Elle, today a manicure she did for Love magazine. Ooof, this woman is packing when it comes to creativity! One more angle after the flip.

UPDATE: Excellent lifestyle blogger LauraSofiakoski points out in the comments that this pattern is the classic “Unikko” pattern from Finish design company Marimekko. The very delish Ms. Sofiakoski knows a thing or two about nail art. Go check out her “Zipper” nails, which we may just have to devote an entire post to!

UPDATE No. 2: We contacted Sophy and asked her about the Marimekko connection and how the design was inspired. This is what she had to say:

“You are right it is based on Marimeko! The fashion editor I was working with for Japanese Vogue that day was Katie Grand and she asked me to do daisies on the nails. As I had previously worn Murakami daisy manicures on myself, I thought that was what she wanted but it turned out I had read the message wrong. So I quickly looked up Marimekko designs and that is what I came up with. It was easy for me to do as the daisies are bold, block colours.”

Thanks Sophy!
