Our artist-at-heart fashion lovers should appreciate this collabo between Italian outerwear brand and Japanese designer for Sacai, Chitose Abe, whose background includes work with Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe. Under Abe’s direction, Moncler’s signature flashy looks turn mysterious and tough and with a couple of styles, borderline avant guarde. Look for this collection to presale at Japanese boutique Shibuya at the end of July. Via Fashionsnap.

In this image, we spy DJ Leigh Lezark in biker shorts (with designer Stacey Bendet) while in attendance at the Alice & Olivia X Mac cosmetics event in New York a couple days back. I’ll admit it, I am struggling with this look, and I’m not sure why. Normally I like the trendy trends…at least when they first surface. In the meantime, how about you guys? Do they get a si o no from you? Via Zimbio.

Hungarian-born and French-trained designer Dori Abodi is new on my radar, registering thanks to this clutch spotted at PostFashionism. Her Fall/Winter collection was inspired by David Bowie, and she describes it as “shiny, glam-rock, edgy, fresh, funny, cartoon-like.” Sounds interesting, no? See the entire collection at her site.

There’s a reason Nike remains the king, queen and general lord of all things sneaker-related and part of it is shoes like this. Inspired by one of Nike’s founders, Bill Bowerman, the shoe’s name, Mayfly, speaks to its short lifespan, as it was designed to last for a mere 100 kilometers worth of running. Forget the “May” part, we think it’s just plain fly, especially for a mere 45 bucks. Via HighSnobiety.

These leopard print, penny loafers, which are a collaboration between Bass Weejuns and prepster fashion desginer Mark McNairy (how many times in his life has he been called McHairy—5,000 at least I’ll bet), are so of the moment perfect that they are capable of making a shoe lover sick. Like gut-wrenching, sort of nauseated ill. You can put pennies in them, people, and they’re leopard print–I mean come on!

Big name models are back in style, as if you didn’t already know, and it looks like part of the ushering in of the new era involves giving a nod to those from the old guard. The August issue of Dazed & Confused magazine features an amazingly shot (Roe Ethridge) and styled (Katie Skillingford) editorial, featuring Alek Wek, Julia Stegner, Tasha Tilberg, Christina Kruse, Hannelore Knuts, Ana Beatriz Barros and Karolina Kurkova. The shot on this page features Alek Wek in a Balmain dress, Prada shos and an Atsuko Kudo latex glove. All via FashionGoneRogue.
After the flip see Stegner in a Comme de Garcon plaid top, Jeremy Scott boots and an Alexis Bittar spike ring, plus a close-up on Kurkova wearing butterfly eyebrow extensions.

While I was in Florida last week, a bunch of Lara-Stone-related events happened and I figured rather than just ignore, I’d gather them all in one post. The image on this page is from some random fashion show, but it was the best of the bunch so it gets center stage. After the flip, there’s a shot of her in an orange tee on her way to watch Netherlands play in the World Cup finals, wearing a gold dress to a Calvin Klein event in Berlin, and then in London in a white and black dress on a date with her new husband. Abed Mahfouz takes us to a pace of pure elegance and a grandiose lifestyle that goes beyond the red carpet into the lives of the Mouna Al-Ayoub’s of the world. Some say that couture is irrelevant, but you see I grew up watching ‘Style with Elsa Klensch ‘ where all the designer shows ended with a bridal gown, And then there were the countless times I watched Romy Shneider in Imperatrice Sisi, so the drama and opulence is definitely not lost on me.
