‘The Colour of Beauty’ Documentary

The Colour of Beauty is a short documentary, which follows model Renee Thompson and her struggles to make it as a black model in the business. As she says, “I think sometimes it is so blatently racist it’s disgusting.” No one said this industry was easy and it’s a short-lived career move at best for 99.9% of girls, but it’s double vicious for women of color, as in casting calls where black girls are told not to bother. Flat out. This seems to have gotten a lot of press way back in May so we’re a bit behind, but I image there are plenty of you who haven’t seen it and it’s very much worth a view.

great documentary. Ive worked in the fashion industry for years but in a corporate setting and you barely see black people working behind the scenes as well. Very sad
