I had the pleasure of meeting Leana Zuniga a while back and was impressed by her ability to make apparel that looks farily simple,  but at a second glance  stands out as well constructed and made of amazing fabrics that we must all have in our closets. V Magazine’s July issue is the “Sexy Body Issue,” which features Adriana Lima on the cover. Alternate covers will feature Natasha Poly, Eniko Mihalik, Lily Donaldson, and Isabeli Fontana, all photographed by Mario Sorrenti, according to Fashionising. Super, one of the coolest names in eyewear, introduces the flattops for fall 2010. In three colors, a light orange, brown and black. Alex Wang is getting a jump start on fall with these “Polina” ponyhair, platform boots, which reflect fashion’s current obsession with tails, whether raccoon, fox or pony. These days they seem to be either clipped on to or used to detail everything from bags to dresses.  After the flip more pairs of Wang shoes, including a pair of mules and two pairs of boots, all black.

Following on the heels of Chanel, Louis Vuitton opened a boutique in Saint-Tropez last week, we are told via JalouNews. The ”Neverfull” tote featured on this page is one of the items being offered that are unique to the location. On the next page are exterior and interior images of the store. What’s fascinating is how quiet the branding is–you can barely make out the Louis Vuitton on the storefront. There are probably local laws governing signage but still, it’s fascinating how brands use their retail space to extend their image. 

In the tradition of  Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, UK-based  Romance Was Born presents their fall 2010 collection in a  fashion extravaganza mixed with revenge and of course blood. This one we  could not ignore. Check out  the jumpsuit; it’s a wow!

Vogue’s July issue features coverage of the The Costume Institute’s Ball, of which Oprah is co-chair. The article opens with a two-page spread of Oprah and Gaga, featured here, as photographed by Mario Testino. Sadly, this scan is doing eye-popping image no justice. And not for nothing but Oprah’s makeup (by Derrick Rutledge) and boobs (from good eating?) are amaaaaazing! She’s wearing Oscar de la Renta and Lady Gaga is wearing Prada. Via Gagalicious.

Whenever I see a celeb this decked out in one brand, it’s hard not to wonder whether or not an exchange of money is involved beyond the free garments. I mean, let’s be serious, for females, Rihanna is about as bankable as Sean Carter is for males. It’s a good look nonetheless, grey sweats are the ultimate chic look these days, and she sets them off nicely with what looks like a pair of Nike Air Max 2009 in either an extremely limited flourescent colorway or one that is soon to come. We posted the other day about a Jefree Star manicure, which I thought was cool because of the calligraphy. I even mentioned that it reminded me of those love/hate tattoos criminals are fond of sporting. This morning I’m checking out the amazing WahNails as I often do, and lo and behold, I stumble upon the manicure featured on this page! It’s funny how human creativity works…..similar ideas are always bubbling below the surface waiting for the chance to arise and then some opening occurs and boom, the beginnings of a trend is born.
