Tab of M.O.B.’s ‘Ins & Outs’ List

HairviaMOB

Tabitha, one of the head mobsters and anchors of the Married to the M.O.B. team has her latest “Ins & Outs” list up over at the M.O.B. blog. This time she goes in on “studs, print vomit, bindi’s and hair dye.” Sometimes in getting caught up in how funny she writes, you forget that she makes some great points about not just fashion but also life!

Here’s an excerpt from the post she did on hair dye (accompanying image above):

You know what? I can’t even really hate on that bitches Easter basket hair piece. Lourdes sent me the photo a while back after her friend took it while standing behind the culprit at a Burger King and even though it’s the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen, she definitely gets points for originality. I mean, imagine how she must have looked at her prom. Amazing. But in all honesty this is really just about the current “performance dressing” craze, and even though this particular lady has probably been doing her hair like that since before GaGa was even born, it doesn’t mean that anybody else should. Enough with the hair sculptures and flying shoes, let’s all just chill out and stop trying to outdo the next chick. If you think it’s cool taking fashion advice from a woman who wore Kermit the Frog’s entire family as dress and matching hat, that’s your own problem.

MobFallSneakPeek Married to the M.O.B. Fall 2010 Sneak Peek: UPDATE

Speaking of all things Married to the M.O.B., over at headquarters we get a sneak peek of a top, which is soon-to-be-featured in the brand’s fall lookbook. So far super cute! If you recognize the model, tell!

UPDATE: The model is the multi-talented and sexy Tanaya Henry, whose Lace by Tanaya accessories line we featured not that long ago. Once again, McSweeney comes through with the intriguing model choice. Never predictable that one.

UPDATE No. 2: Our friends over at FashionCopious (a highly recommended read!) posted this image and wondered if anyone knew what the tat says and if it goes all the way around her waist. We contacted Tanaya and this is what she had to say:

“‘Sweet is the sound of a sister’s laughter,” in Russian (I’m part Russian) & have two little sisters. It is only on my back; doesn’t go all the way around. xx, Tanaya

We Like The Speedo Look!

 We Like The Speedo Look!

A man in a Speedo has pretty much become the accepted punchline for any statement related to what a guy should never wear if he wants to ever get laid in his life. Now that they’re showing up on the runways (the ones featured here are from Dsquared), it reminds me that my partner have discussed this and we whole-heartedly reject the anti-Speedo sentiment! What’s wrong with seeing more leg on a man? It’s the beach, everyone should take off as much as possible. And yes, this applies to everyone, even men and women who aren’t perfectly toned and are long past their youth. We have concluded that this aversion is somehow connected to the inherent prudishness of Americans, but it’s probably a lot bigger and more complicated than that. Still, we here at HighSnobette officially are throwing down the gauntlet for more men in smaller swim suits!

M.I.A. For July GQ Magazine

mia01 M.I.A. For July GQ Magazine

Maya is profiled in a seven-page article for GQ magazine’s July issue. The interview took place after her disastrous profile in the NY Times so you know she was very much on her guard. And while it’s much more sympathetic (highlighting her dysfunctional upbringing), her contradictory views (aka, her tendency to tell tall tales) remain a theme. So good, now that we all know that she aint perfect we can hopefully move on. On another note, the story chats about her upcoming record release, but that ship started leaking all over the internet at least a week ago.

More images after the flip..

Chanel RTW Fall/Winter 2011: Still Furred The Eff Out!

23 June 2010, 20.43 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Chanel Fur, Fur, Fur!

In case anyone thought Karl was playing around when he showed his fall collection a couple months back featuring beautiful young women role-playing as plushies, his ready-to-wear fall 2010-2011 collection, which he showed in Tokyo today, shows he was dead serious. And while there were fewer teddy bears attempting to navigate the runway this time, fur was still flying everywhere. On the one hand, I love the furry looks. They actually cause me to bust out laughing when I think about them. On the other hand…well, I suppose there is no downside unless you’re a Chanel exec, wondering what the market is for rich society women willing to sip tea dressed as a sports team mascot (though oh god how I wish they would!)

Many more furry looks after the flip….the fur underpants–a tribute of sorts I suppose to Gaga/Beyonce–were my faves by far.

Christian Louboutin ‘Dorepi’ 120 Pony Shoes

louboutin dorepi2

To make shoes that we can call hot, stunning , beautiful and lustworthy, Christian Louboutin   knows that often times it’s  not about creating an out there silouette but putting all the right elements together: slick patent leather for class, gold chain for bling and pizzaz  and leopard print  for that inner  fierce feline  female ( think  Eartha Kit)  we all have inside. Let’s not forget the red sole that just brings it all together nicely. Grrrr… Via Browns.

Manolo Blahnik ‘Pregga’ Boot

ManoloBoots Manolo Blahnik Pregga Boot

We’re heading into a shoe cycle, less adventurous, more classic, which has the potential to benefit Manolo Blahnik, who, let’s face it, has fallen off since his glory days as the leading shoe of choice on Sex & the City. And while these shearling-detailed Manolo Blahnik “Pregga” boots, via Fashionising, leaped out from the page when I first spied them,  a few minutes later I wasn’t so sure. I cannot tell a lie, part of the issue is the shallow fact that the brand just isn’t hot right now. Still, I’m seeing glimmers that change is on the horizon, and the gifted ones–as Blahnik of course is–always seem to find a way their claw their way back up the ladder.
