As photographed by Steve Meisel, model Miranda Kerr will be the face of Prada’s Autumn ad campaign, which takes its inspiration from what has become an important fashion trend this year–a look back on the dark side of the ’50s. This a big deal for Kerr as it’s a big marker in her slow but steady crossover from lad’s model to super model status.

As much as he has been designing his collection since 2004 Jean-Pierre Braganza, whose talent  is apparent , is  generating a bigger  buzz lately.  The Fashion Informer’s Lauren David Peden sat down with the mind behind the lovely designs who opens up about his likes, dislikes creative proces and more. Designed by Folake Folarin-Coker, the Tiffany Amber collection originates from Folake’s native Nigeria and has been winning the hearts of fashion lovers on a global scale. Awarded a Designer of the Year 2009/2010 award at the Arise Africa fashion week in South Africa, we fell in love with her use of color and volume, making her autumn/winter 2010 collection filled with Grecian silhouettes  and silks a winner in our book. M.I.A. performed at Creator’s Project this past Saturday, an art/music event put together by Vice magazine and Intel. There’s not a lot being written about the performance, except that she sung some of her oldies but goodies, but in this intimate of a setting–perfect for a street-inspired artist like M.I.A., it’s hard to imagine that it wasn’t completely amazing.  This image is from RollingStone, more at Vice.

Love the subtlety of  the’just enough skin’ this Sass & Bide dress  exhibits. Then again I have to admit that its name “Forget the Rest” makes it all the more covetable as it hints to the innate,  often overlooked  ability  that ALL women have to  render the male species utterly gaga ( not the performer). United Nude opened its flagship Shanghai Store recently, with design credit going to Architect Rem D Koolhaas, who also designed the brand’s Amsterdam location. Don’t like the colors featured in this image? Not a problem, they constantly shift. However, judging from one of the comments on Dezeen, the design forum where this was originally posted, the light show might seem neat-o, but when it comes to trying on and looking at the shoes, you only get seconds of time to view them in non-disco style lighting!

In a suite at the posh Pierre Hotel, Exclusively.in showcased  some of the lustworthy finds it will be featuring on the newly-launched Exclusively.in online boutique. Silks, precious stones, housewares, accessories galore, and apparel by a wide variety of designers, giving  you access to those “where did you get that?”  items, that carry  with them ancient traditions of craftmanship and unique style. Loving  Samia Malik’s commitment to make apparel with meaning while creating what I consider to be  modern symbols. Here’s what she  had to say about her latest collection titled “No Systems” :

 We’re surrounded in environments, with many type of systems: culture, traditional, political, consumer, jobs etc. All these systems take over soul purpose of our existence, and ultimate question is how important are these systems for our survival, or are these systems here to destroy us. T shirt line is based on breaking free from: rhetorical and mediocre systems. I continued story of geometric shapes and structures, putting together different angles, to represent unbalanced energies and collision of various energies. Continued colour story that always reflects physiological disruption.
