Tibetan Gao Necklace

 Tibetan Gao Necklace

A stunning piece of  art/jewelry. According to the press, “Usually made of metal and worn as jewelry, the amulet traditionally contained a written prayer, blessed by a Buddhist priest. Curiously a Gao box has also been known to attract or strengthen love by placing a keepsake or love note inside and giving to a partner or potential beau.” Available at CoutureLab

Jeff Campbell Over the Knee Slash Tick Back in Stock

We’re told that the wildly popular over-the-knee “Slash Tick” Jeffrey Campbell boot, which we had an exclusive look at back in February, is now back in stock at SoleStruck. Priced at $189, it sold out once already and will probably do so again.

M.I.A. on Cover of Nylon

MIANylonMag M.I.A. on Cover of Nylon

M.I.A.’s media blitz in front of her record release continues. Nylon has her on its cover for its July/August issue, and as in other recent interviews with Complex and the New York Times, Google seems to be the biggest recipient of her rage this go round. Love her a lot, but the truth is she or someone is botching how she’s being repped right now and it’s going to take her more than a minute to clean up the messes she’s made in multitudinous aisles.

Scan above from TFS. Images from the (extremely mediocre) Nylon editorial shoot after the flip.

Horse Hair Key Chain at Oak

HorsehairKeyChain2 441x540 Horse Hair Key Chain at Oak

There have been fox tails from LV and fur powder puffs from Fendi, and now New York-retailer Oak is jumping in the fray with its horse hair key chain. This version is a little more shakey than the latter two if only because onlookers might be inclined to wonder if that’s some hapless hair extension that happened to get stuck on your belt loop. A wider view after the flip.

 Alexander Wang: Resort 2011

Alexander Wang resort 2011 was previewed at Style yesterday. It’s tough to get a read on what the signature piece/s will be because of how the models are standing stick straight. One thing for sure, Wang aint backing away from the crop top at all. In fact, he’s even showing one with a turtleneck! Also, the trousers from his fall collection are still there, but they’re more highwater this time. And there is all that mixing of spring pieces (crop tops!) with winter items (heavy cardigans) that has become de rigeur in contemporary fashion these days. All in all, nothing to make one gasp with delight, more a steady continuation of what we’ve come to expect.

Olsen Haus Vegan Shoes: Autumn 2010

NeetOlsenHaus 540x337 Olsen Haus Vegan Shoes: Autumn 2010

N.E.E.T. magazine has a great interview with Elizabeth Olsen, head designer for Olsen Haus, a N.Y.-based brand designed “to meet the standards of the vegan lifestyle.” Here’s what Olsen had to say about her fall collection, some of which is featured on this page:

“Our Fall 2010 collection is made with a recycled upper of material that originated as TV factory waste. We are also experimenting with a recycled tire sole on a few styles, along with sustainable cork and wood detailing. A recycled heel is also in the works. Otherwise, we utilize organic cotton canvas, nylon, linen, and velvets—all breathable, high-quality products that surpass leather in all respects. The glue used for making the shoes is animal product free as well.”
