Model David Gandy Blogs For Vogue U.K.

david gandy light blue

I can’t say that I closely follow the male modeling world, know everyone’s name etc. However,  when D&G launched their Light Blue campaign featuring  tall ,dark and handsome David Gandy, a few years ago  they, well  he caught my attention. Guess I was not the only one, as  Vogue U.K. totally beat me to the chase and now has him as a blogger on their site. Could this be an attempt to increase  traffic or does he actually  bring something  interesting to the table? Cannot wait to see if Vogue US will follow with male model bloggers?

Iris van Herpen x United Nude 011 Iris Van Herpen x United Nude Shoes

If you have not yet laid your eyes on Iris Van herpen’s designs we say go look. She designs on the level of McQueen or Rodarte with a point of view that is definitely unique. Her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection which I pretty much died over featured these  amazing  booties made in collaboration with United Nude and designer Antoine Peters. The shoes  will be available this fall in a limited number of 168 for the black and 72 for Ivory. Stunning! via dexigner. More on the next page.

‘Hoof Heels’ Shoes By Roxanne Jackson

hoof heels 1 Hoof Heels Shoes By Roxanne Jackson

Before you work yourself up, Roxanne Jackson is an artist not a shoe designer, but still, tell me you don’t look at these and think, of course, she just came out and did the obvious after a year of shoe designers pussyfooting around with the theme of hoof-inspired footwear. And the rest of her work is like that, too. On her site, she says,

I am concerned with confronting the shadows of the unconscious, having a a dialogue with the grotesque, and therein discovering beauty.

And here’s a quote from Jung that sits atop her statement:

A gentle and reasonable being can be transformed into a maniac or a savage beast. One is always inclined to lay the blame on external circumstances, but nothing could explode in us if it had not been there.–Jung

There are some more examples after the flip but do go visit her site for many, many more.

q pot 02 Opening Ceremony X Q Pot Stackable Charm Necklace

Opening Ceremony partnered up with Japanese accessory company Q-Pot to create a charm necklace, available in either ice cream or burger form. The cute part is that you can stack on scoops and ingredients for both–just don’t mix the burger with the pistaccio!

A look at the burger, plus some of the add on scoop charms on the other side.

V Magazine: Colored Eyebrows

V66KarolinaClose V Magazine: Colored Eyebrows

With all the emphasis on bright eye liner, it’s not surprising that some of that color has migrated to the eyebrows, a fresh look that I adore even more than the Crayola-colored locks trend. This image is from V Magazine’s “Woman in Full” editorial and once again, the emphasis is on more voluminous 50s-inspired looks. I’m trying not to be bitter because personally this is one of my least favorite fashion eras. My theory is that designers are looking to reset the bar in an effort to shift away from punky looks, but I don’t see it working because it’s too violent of a swing. More likely I see women shifting over to trousers and the like–at least that’s what I hope anyway! Down with the oppresive, styfling and hypocritical ’50s!

Models featured in the shoot are Miranda Kerr (wearing Prada), Karolina Kurkova (wearing Yves Saint Laurent and Celine) and Jacquelyn Jablonski (wearing Valentino and Calvin Klein Collection).  More looks after the flip.

Stussy X Hello Kitty!

HKStuss1 Stussy X Hello Kitty!

Stussy continues to maintain its collaboration momentum, hooking up with all the top notch brands, and lately it seems to me, giving more attention to the female-flavored ones. You can’t get much more loveable than Stussy linked up with Hello Kitty….they’re almost a perfect ying/yang.  The collection, which is the second for the two brands, includes tees, make-up bags, a keychain, a set of bibs (!) and what looks like a super-neato choker (or bracelet) that brings together the two logos. Via Cadmus.
